That is correct by the website. Rest assured, there are some updates coming soon, as ROAR works to help the racers out of this situation.

I am sure they will re-submit then for approval. It would be a shame if the Protoform Mazda series is no longer legal.

Im sorry but I think this thread was titled wrong. It should be, Why is it Manufactures only have seven legal bodies after 2/28/08? Manufactures have known about this for a year now and yet there have been no new bodies submitted to fit inside the rules set in place throughout the world. What's even worse is they've known about this and not told their consumers that the bodies they are selling to us weren't going to be legal. Every problem that comes up in the r/c world these days it seems the word ROAR appears in it. Yes ROAR makes some mistakes. I'm not happy that there wasn't more info sent out to let the members know what products will be approved for this year. I've got 2 bodies myself painted and ready for the Nats that aren't legal now. But the racers need to step up. We can't just keep blaming ROAR for everything. The manufacturers need to start taking blame for alot of the lack of growth in r/c themselves. We blame ROAR for the lackluster Nationals we've had in the past and talk about how great the snowbirds was or Vegas was. I'm sorry but look at the lists of sponsors for those races compared to the list for ROAR Nats. You don't see nearly the amount of manufacturers sponsoring the ROAR Nats that you see sponsoring the other races. You don't see these manufacturers giving away merchandise to every driver that entered like you do at these races. But yet if any of these manufacturers drivers wins at the Nationals. You'll sure as heck see the ROAR name shown all over their websites and ads saying ROAR National champions. If the manufacturers threw the same kind of money towards the nationals that they do these other races, ROAR could lower the entry fees and do more to make these races much more memorable. Which make the drivers much happier. Manufacturers need to stop worrying so about their agendas and start working more with ROAR to help make this hobby we love grow. And we as consumers need to not just speak out but take action as well. Just because the manufacturer won the nationals doesn't mean we need to buy the product. Buy the products of those manufacturers that sponsored the race and helped give us a Nationals to go too.

Default Thanks Lance

Thanks Lance,
BTW it was your post on the Carpet Nationals thread that alerted me to this problem. I have an unpainted body that I thought was legal but I had not read the fine print on expiration date of approvals.

If I am not mistaken isn't the core of the problem
this change-
[from ROAR Rule Book}
"** GLOBAL BODY SPECIFICATIONS **
Bodies submitted for approval after January 1, 2007 must conform to the following dimensions illustrated in these diagrams. All previously approved bodies will require a complimentary resubmittal if no changes is necessary to compete after January 1, 2008."

and either the bodys were not resubmitted or they did not meet the GBS and not re-designed.

Also there are some tricky things with model numbers having an -00 -01 on them, which a I assume is significant and which made it a bit hard to identify precisely which part number in the Hobby shops inventory was the correct one.

Later this evening, the ROAR website will have an announcement with body numbers that have been given a temporary expiration date of 3/31/08.

These bodies that will be listed fell outside of the Global Body Specifications and in the best interest of the ROAR membership and the Carpet Nationals to be held at HobbyPlex in March, ROAR has granted several body companies an extension to correct the failing dimensions on those bodies. These bodies will fall off the list on 3/31/08 and must be presented to the ROAR Body Committee for a complimentary reevaluation as per the GBS rules.

The GBS rules have been in place since the 2007 rule book printing and body companies have been well aware of this change. ROAR's recommendation to the membership is always keep tabs on the body approval list as bodies are given limited approval dates in many situations.

Thank you!
Dawn

I just wish that some GT bodies be added.. Zonda, DBR9, etc

because personally I think the stratus, DNA, and mazda6 bodies look ugly.
