Ty:

But that's my point.

I want to support my local hobby shop. They are the reason I can race! Without them, I would have no place to race. Sure, there is a store in HK that sells the parts, but I just don't think I should call halfway around the world to get the parts when there is a HPI Headquarters in CA. Why aren't the parts available here?

Sure, there is all kinds of Asian Manufacturers that make hop ups, but HPI sells what I need in Asia, made by them, dist. in Asia. But not in the US.

I am just fed up. It's not like I am going to sell my Pro 3, but I am dissapointed with them. I think in box stock form it's a OK car, I have had to put alot into it to make it competitive at my track.

Even Hara totally tricks his out, but Pavids and Drescher run basically box stock TC3's (albeit FT TC3), but I can't even buy the parts to trick mine up like Hara's here in the US. But the Pro 3 was marketed HEAVILY here.

I used to own a xpress. I liked it alot, but I knew when I bought it I would be hand fitting alot of stuff on my own because of how rare the car was. But this is HPI....

Just my 2 cents

Default Thoughts/Comments on the Penguin Chassis?

Anyone out there have a Penguin chassis kit yet? or seen one yet?

I cracked my pro3 chassis, don't wont to replace it with the same s*** so I wanted to get an idea of whether I should get HPI's graphic or the Penguin, the penguin goes for 106$$$ but it also includes alot of other things...

Thanks in advance,
TigeRyan

Yea, that's an awful lot to spend for an aftermarket parts set...

It had better transform the Pro 3 into one awesome racer!

TigeRyan - it looks like a very solid redesign. Probably worth everybit of it, especially if your doing carpet racing. Just my opinion.

Another option is to buy the HPI Graphite Chassis (part #A381) and the HB Upper deck (2.4mm) and it will get rid of about 95% of the flex.

It's cheaper, too:

HPI Graphite Chassis - $34
HB Upper Deck - $20

Total - $54

Penguin Chassis - $85 (lowest price I've seen)

But I guess some people like how the Penguin Chassis looks (I dont!). I personally like the HPI/HB parts instead.

If you dont mind me asking where did you see the Penguin for 85$, best I have seen is 105$....

Also, thanks for the recommendation on the HB + HPI combo...Are you running this currently?

Default Making the Pro3 go Faster

Well, I will tell you one thing, get rid of the stock gearing, I never understand company's that ship their cars with horrible gear setups....I was so far off out of the box on my Pro3 gearing wise...

I also changed my stock front springs to Yellow and that helped a ton, I am just trying to get rid of a severe wiggle under breaking, if I do anything but break while going straight my car is a handful....

Yes, i have the HB Upperdeck, and i have the Penguin shock towers, and the front/rear brace, I had only install the front/rear brace on the car, the upperdeck and shock towers not install yet.

Yes. I have the HB upper deck and the Penguin rear brace...the handling is very much improved.... I gotta save up a little bit more $$ and I'm planning on getting Cross Racing's shock towers and other hop-ups. see:
