This was a ton of fun. At one point there were 2 teams. Each took a strip and they raced to see who could rip it up quicker.

Scotty E and Frank C,

Watchin' the track being torn down every year has made me wonder...Why?

I would be most happy if you guys (and others) could develop a system of attachment that would allow you to recycle the CRC carpet used at the IIC; and then, sell such to the highest bidder. Of course, this idea would have to be promoted well in advance to get a buyer lined up.

This is coming from a guy that had a ball running the temporary laydown carpet track at Stockton for multiple years...Including the 2006 Carpet Nats.

Recycling the plywood foundation would also be another great goal.

Would certainly bring some "green-ness" to the event...and our hobby.

I am willing to work with you on such goals. If not this year...possibly next. Thanks.

Bill

I think we should come up with some really strong seam tape, maybe sew it together with seam tape, then put brass rings, eylets?, around the edges and make a giant trampoline frame with springs to stretch it. Put enough plywood under it to make it sit above the frame and race on it!
Every year bring it back and it would already have the track layout on it.

Charlie, yeah but, _everything_ is better for the environment than a hybrid. Normal gas cars, turbo gas cars, turbo diesel gas cars, pure electric cars...

I carefully addressed my post to two of the most cutting edge people that I know in this hobby. After seeing the responses of others to this point, I suppose it would have been better to have PM'ed them on the topic. Obviously, it appears to be of no interest (or concern) to those that have responded.

What most will not know is that in 2005 Scotty had about 20 of us try to salvage the carpet after the first year's race. We gave up after finding the carpet was too well attached to the plywood base. It was glued down far beyond expectations.

Otherwise, I apologize for my post having raised such ire on this forum. Let's move on...
