I ran my BD-5 after my other car broke with no spares and was turning faster times with it anyway. I squeaked into the A Main with mostly (US) national caliber racers in the 17.5 class(rubber) on carpet. We run Jaco blue pre-mounts as a spec tire at this track. Car ran great but a little lazy and pushing in the main. I am running xray 2.8 springs in front and xray 2.4 springs in the rear after starting with HPI Pinks(fr) and HPI blues(rear) and was almost traction rolling. I was also usng the #8 steering block and think that it was the issue with the lazyness. I am going to try the stock steering link and see if I can get higher up in the main next time.!

Any ideas would be apprciated!

i thought using 8mm center link will make the car more aggressive and steering ??

why you dont try softer spring ???like silver + blue ?? or silver + silver??

so far im feel good with silver + silver...

I tried that. Actually to me the xray springs are softer than the silver blue combination.

2.8 is similar to hpi pink , 2.4 similar to hpi blue but they are totally different in feeling

the 8mm rack makes the car more responsive / aggressive around neutral

if you want it more reactive try 2.8/2.6 or 3.0/2.6 springs or hpi silver/silver

what you ran droop / swaybar/ shockoil / setupwise?

Martin,

Thanks, from my feeling the springs both on and off the car the 2.8 and 2.4 feel to be softer than the pink/blue in comparison. It may be just my feel but that is what it feels like.

My car has all the camber link positions of your latest carpet setup with the #8 rack. The droop is 2mm over ride height which is 5mm. We measure droop by using a ride height gauge when we make the a-arm go to full droop.

The swaybar is 1.4 up front and none in the rear. It seems most chassis' at my track are not running rear bars. I was also going to try a 1.3 bar up front to see what that does.

I will try the 2.6 springs in the rear but it seems to me that the stiffer rear springs will make the rear of the car roll less and possibly reduce overall steering.

In case I didn't mention is we are running 17.5 with the new tekin 2.03 software. It makes the 17.5's run like 13.5's even better, so we are running closer to non spec speeds.

This is a link to the "a" main at this track. I don't want to advertise who I was in the event because I caused some crashes(lol).
