ya, ive got BD5 shocks, rear hubs, CVD's, C-hubs/knuckles on my SD. Direct fit.
The SD spool set D-045 is an exact replica of the BD5 spool set and includes steel cups.

no - this one comes with the Yokomo Lipo. Only difference between the 2 i think are the front suspension blocks and the DCJ's. Also unsure if the WXi and the WXc use the same chassis as I haven't found any info on the chassis part number yet.

Not sure if like the WXi, it'll come with the DCJ's and a spare set of front axles.

WXi - new less flex chassis (has almost no cutouts), DCJ cvds, new 'white' blades (not sure on front suspension mounts whether they are std 43.5mm or new 44.2mm blocks)

WXC - in celebration of the JMRCA national champs success. same as current WX kit, but comes with Yokomo lipo, DCJ cvds, new 'white' blades and new front suspension mounts.

WXC is available now from some hobby shops.
WXi is available at this point in time from select hobby shops

Default chassis

has anyone tested the zeppin bd5wx chassis?
i can't remember if its 2.25 or 2.5mm thick.

is this chassis designed for carpet or asphalt?
it looks similar in cut-out to the bd5w carpet chassis.

has anyone tested the asphalt chassis on carpet?
thanks!

The asphalt chassis (WX standard) is less than optimal on carpet in my experience. I had it on one of my cars after my last trip down to Village Raceway in Florida and tried it back here up north. The best way I can describe it is that it numbed the car both on the track and to set-up changes.

In fact it barely works on well prepped US asphalt tracks.

In my opinion it is made for old school low bite non-prepped/badly prepped parking lot style racing.

From what I understand allot of the asphalt tracks in Japan are not prepped the way we are used to and are much lower bite. Hence the massively cut-out chassis you see as standard or optional for the Japanese cars.

Honestly the BD5W chassis has always been "interesting" on carpet once the bite gets > medium.

How was it at the Gate?

hey mike

thanks for the response. that information makes a lot of sense.

the car was pretty good at the gate. i had to go away from the standard pink/blue setup and went with the hpi pink/silver setup. this helped the car get move faster through the track, since the yokomo springs made the car super stuck.

i didn't do anything to the rollcenter changes and just drove the car while i made changes to rear gear diff oil. the higher i went the better the car felt. ultimately, this is what made it difficult to keep up with alston. otherwise, the car was great, but aside from some school-boy mistakes, like not tightening some screws, my car was sometimes inconsistent.

i managed to take 2nd easily, simply cruising around. i did not feel comfortable pushing the car hard since it was occasionally washy on corners, but that was my fault, not the car's. i love the yok!

i felt the wxi lowerdeck is much better on carpet. less flex give u better feel on carpet.

i like to use yokomo pink (front) and yokomo blue (rear) with harder oil like 400-500wt on carpet race. thinner shock oil seem to make the car "Hooking" at corners.
