Ive been shaving down/ modifying the back of the blade as it tells you to do on the small pamphlet that comes with the gear diff due to clearance issues with the the gear diff outdrives.

What would be be a good susbstitute to get around this issue?

I have been told to use team bomber blades, but im not sure if these will fit in the gear diff outdrives. Ive also been told to use shorter Tamiya 416 cvd's with standard yokomo blades to give more clearance to avoid modifying and therefore weakening the blades.
Thanks guys
What turn motor are you running? I have had the same problem, I just got pliers and compressed them then heating them with a lighter so that it was a really tight fit and that seemed to solve the problem.

Hi,
Im running in mod with a 4.5t speed passion.
I was told to do wohat you have advised also, but to put heat shrink around the blades. Doesnt feel too professional though

Ive gone and ordered a SPEC-R diff to see how things go, and will try some other mods too....

Cheers

Yeah, when I ran mod the blades lasted me around 2-3 race meets. So around 12 races? Mod eats up consumables on your car like crazy, so you have to be prepared for that. Currently I think I'm running the 3racing blades that came with the sakura diff, can't be certain just found some blades in my parts box. They look beefier than my yokomo blades and they look to be stronger as they still look relatively new after one race in 17.5t.

Edit: I am running 44mm tamiya aluminum dog bones in the rear though, doesn't seem that 0.5mm could do much in prolonging blade life.

Tom, Try some other blades, maybe we can try get some xray ones in there as they last forever! The Yokomo diff has very soft alloy, and the blades are also soft...its gonna chew out eventually. If you replace the outdrives, the problem will go away. But without changing blades will just happen again The Spec R diff is not as good as the Yokomo one (feel wise).

Ronald,

what procedures do you take to prepare your car for a run/ between runs? Also, what tools and techniques do you use for set-up (Set-up station, camber gauge, droop over ride..)
