Wheel flex and harder compound tyres...

I've just had a thought about harder compounds not gripping as well as you would like them to.

Would it help at all if harder compound tyres were put onto spoked wheels, or wheels with more flex in them? This should in turn help them stay planted to the track.

But may make the cars handling less predictable and break away

Anyone tried this theory out? How did you get on? Any other tips to help, (other than pre-soaking tyres?)

This is more of a "curious to hear of others stories", rather than a "suffer from it myself" kind of thread :)
