Man has Tamiya allowed the high interest around this car to fade a little. Theres no better way to kill hype around a product, than missing your release date!

I think we will see some interesting strategy play out when the two types of cars compete against each other. I doubt it will be as dramatic as the with GT, GTS and LMP racing on the same track, but keep some things in mind. All of the clubs that I have heard of that race F1, race longer mains than sedan. I think there is little doubt that the drivetrain on the F201 will not help you if you need to make time. Maybe, just maybe, you can get the 4wd car to go as fast as the 2wd car. On a medium or low traction surface, the 4wd car will have the advantage of being able to carry more speed into a turn and accelerate faster out of a turn. But, can you make time? I bet not.
I think you will be able to make time with this car. Unless you guys are running like 8 minute mains. Especially if you are using a silver can.

isaac: some of the places these guys run at DO actually use the 8-minute race format for F1. Luckily, around here, the organizers stick with the 5-minute format even for F1.

On another note I think a front one way diff would fine for this car. If 1/8 gas cars can use it I think this car could too. As 1/8 scale gas cars have the front one way exposed as well. As a matter of fact this cars suspension set up is very much like a gas car such as Mugen, Serpent and others. A one way diff would be ok in my opinion. I should say as long as you have enough rear traction. The car (from the looks) has serious potential and I would say on a technical track the F2001 or 201 (whatever) would spank a 2WD F1 chassis. Carrying so much speed in the turns. A lot of straights the 2WD has the speed advantage.

8 minutes yea there may be a problem with a stock motor and a 4WD F1 chassis. The track that races F1's here races for 5 minutes. All I can say is gear up and move out of the way 2WD's. Corner speed baby!

.....we're all waiting patiently Tamiya.......can we get some kits here........Jezzzzzzz

Associated was late with the TC3, Schumacher was late with the Mission, now Tamiya is joining in.

Soon the RC industry will have a rep for missing release dates like the gaming industry. And none of us want that! LOL

You actually thought it would come out by now?
Me and all my friends that are getting one have from the start assumed the in the american hobby shop availability would be like April 21st or so... if we're lucky! It's a Japanese company- they are going to take care of the home demand first

On another board, a guy from Tamiya USA indicated that we should see them toward the end of April. I think MikeR's estimate is probably pretty good. Oh well, it will be the end of April before we know it at this rate.

MikeR: I guess I'm getting a little spoiled, since some Japanese gaming companies are starting to realized that their only hurting themselves with the Japan first then U.S. stuff. Many have switched to simultaneous releases and some have even given the U.S. the nod first.

B U T, I guess not all the Japanese companies see things that way.

I can wait, thats no problem, I just wish we knew for sure when it was coming in. I think I'll just go ahead and pay for it in advance at the LHS, then I wont have to worry about spending the money.

Or shall I say, spending the money again.......since I already did it once!
