And then I had one little touch with the barrier and the inner rear toe link mount bend off of the diff housing So this part is for the trash.

Right now I am unsure what to do. The car has a lot of weak spots and spares are hard to get. The dampers are not working properly. I have to look into the problem. Maybe it is all about the o-rings. The tires are probably just old. I need to order actual F1-tires and attach them to the wheels. Does somebody know if this works?
The important thing with the F1 tires as well as TC is matching the rubber characteristics to how hot your track is. Too hard or too soft is not going to grip well. That specific brand ran on the hard side even in the medium tire and didn't really work all that well. Unfortunately finding tires for the F201 that are going to work well is going to be difficult. Most of them have already been bought up leaving only the tires that no one wants.

Tamiya released a reinforced arm set that also had braces for the gear box. These took care of a lot of the weaknesses in the car. There was also an aftermarket brace set for the suspension and another for the cantilever mounting points. It's hard to see but the F201 gear box flexes at the cantilever when the suspension compresses unless you are using super soft springs.

Ihave a F201 for sale. Just freshened up. lots of new parts and mostly stock. Would make a good starting point. New wheels and tires. New type A body unpainted with stickers. New wings. Manual. PM me with an email for pics. Also have a mostly complete carbon chassis. Looks to be missing a couple of the small spacers used to attach the gear boxes. Plates in good condition with minimal scratching. Also have four of the alloy cantilevers for the shocks.

Hey guys, I just picked up a 201 and it had a 48 pitch pinion. It obviously was not the right pitch and the guy put it in there just to get by.

Does this car use Tamiya's "metric" gears?

Love seeing that you guys are still running your F201's. I had one with every Tamiya hop up that was offered and while it was not the fastest thing out there the thing was just so darn cool. Unfortunately, it was stolen when our home was robbed a few years ago.

If Tamiya ever re-introduces them I will buy another for sure.

Cheers,
Jim

Default In season aero upgrades

It's that time of the year to introduce in season updates

New RC10F6 front + rear wing and F2012 side-boards. The front wing mount needs about 5mm shaved off from the mounting hole block to get it to fit.

The body is a bit too short for the long front wing so I'll likely have to move the front suspension cut outs rearward or use a new body and move it up 2-3 centimeters.

Could also use the MP4-24 nose cone

No one races them anymore, it's a niche car - and just so darn cool. The weight thing doesn't really matter though. However, they are quite heavy - being 4WD.

I love the F-201s, so much detail. I raced them in a few TCS events years ago it was great to see full grids and even enough cars for B mains.

I'm wanting to build up 2 of the 3 F201's I have, with brushless/25.5 motor, and want to put new bodies on them.
Anyone have any experience with the Team Blue Groove (TBG) F201 bodies??

Default New "Blue" Prints for re-inforced gear case and spur gear holder, new diffuser

Some updates to the gear case and spur gear holder to re-inforce the holes. The blue PLA is called Galaxy Blue by BAMTACK! It's a fluorescent blue/purple like hue.

Also added holes to fit the F201 battery retainer posts to use the original F201 rear wing.

New Diffusers - One flat like RedBull, another with a dip in the center like McLaren

Next up, F201 Open RC Hybrid Prototype:

Every time this thread comes up I get mad....My fully Tamiya parts hot rodded F201 was stolen when our house was broken into a number of years back....They also stole my almost perfect '01.5 Stage 3- Audi S4 that I had literally just installed some Brembo 18Z caliper on.

I need to get over it ;-)

With that said I was digging through some RC stuff last week and found some F201 wheels and tires, I believe they are the stickier of the two options. They have some swear but are still very serviceable. $10 for shipping and they are yours. I am off to a trade show till the 11th and will ship them on my return. Shoot me a PM.

Cheers,
Jim
