Those of you that have F201's already:

I was told that the diffs are either the same diffs from the TA04 or based on that diff. If this is true, it stands to reason that the front one-way from a TA04 should be usable on the F201. I'm curious to get your thoughts on this. Some of us are still waiting for them to show up!

Default F201

Looks like there may be some issues with the new F201. I seriously think that Tamiya wanted to test the waters so to speak with this kit. To see the interest level, research and development. Once the kits hit the streets (and they have) they will take note how many were sold and where are they selling most at. Once this is done, research and development, then you'll start to see improvements on the kits, such as fixing that "fixed" gear ratio and the "shaft" issue. Tamiya always do there homework before putting out a new product, this one wont be any different. I'm sure new and improved parts are on the drafting tables as we speak, and you know that the TFR version is not far away either.

psycho: you say "some" of us are still waiting for them to show up. MOST of us are still waiting for them to show up.

Some of the reports have put the wait time at the end of this month. I'm patient, but I'm not crazy. I don't want to have to wait forever. Tamiya needs to get its s*** together and get the kits out to shops here in the U.S. Or at least give people some idea of whats going on.

I hate when companies miss release dates. Why not set a date you know you can make, the put the kit out earlier than that if you can?

Anyway, I just hope the car is worth the wait.

Most of us in the US are definitely waiting! Even if the car doesn't turn out to be "race worthy," it's still has a cool factor of 100, so I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

psycho: see thats the thing. I see all these people talking about sticking in 9turns and whether or not it will compete with the F103 or not. I really don't care. I just want the car for what it is, an incredibly cool looking chassis that looks like it will be fun to mess around with.

What I meant when I said I hope its worth the wait, is that I hope its a good build, durable and fun to drive. I could care less about its race worthyness.

I'm hoping that the car really creates a lot of interest in the class. We have been trying to revive 1/10 F1 and got the entires up to a high of 24 cars last year. With the F201, I think we can consistantly have 2 full mains, but only if it can be competitive with the 2wd cars. It will be interesting to see how the class goes once these cars start showing up. I have a Chameleon all cut, broken in and ready for my F201!

psycho: I'm guessing that a chameleon might find its way into mine as well! Actually though, I think a good stocker might be all I really need to get the speed I want out of it.

I along with CIVIC91 are trying to revive the F1/GTP class around here too. We'll see next month how it turns out. For now though, my F103 is still my race purpose car.

We are starting up 1/10 GTP next week too. We're doing 6 cell mod, bring what ya got. It should be pretty cool since we're going to run 4 minute mains. There's a couple guys talking about putting 8 turns in theirs. I have my F103LM all ready to go with a 14 triple in it. Hopefully the weight advantage will help! I don't have a speedo that will handle a motor lower than 14T. I'm looking forward to starting that class up. Should be fun to get some real speed out there on the track.

Man, people can't wait to throw down some insane power in their cars!

Geetoo: first the car has to get into the hands of the people who make the hopups! Once that happens, the hop ups will probably start flowing.

But right now the issue seems to be getting the car at all. It looks like the prediction of "end of April" might not be so far fetched after all.

we plan on holding an Endurance Nitro TC race in about 2 months, I threw the idea out at our drivers meeting about an F-1 endurance race and it seem to spark some serious interest. We currenlty have about 6-7 F-1 drivers at our regular race Sundays, some have suggested that they would get one just for the endurance race.

I thought we keep the rules simple
Silver Can motors ONLY
6 cells
minimum of 2 drivers
1 hour race limit
1st place prize $150.00 gift certificate
Entry Fee $35.00 per team

Can't wait

we regularly have endurance races with the F103LM at my local track anywhere from 24-45 minutes, we use the dyna run stock motor, it has a fan inside that helps keep it cool

last race my team one by one lap after 45 minutes, 116 laps, even 3rd completed 112 laps, 8 out of 10 cars finished, pretty close racing

I don't think the 201 will be very good for endurance though,

I read in the RC CAR ACTION mag that Tamiya held a 1 hour endurance F-1 race, the guys that won used 1700 packs.

I'm not too much concerned with the 201 in the endurance race, all of us will probably be racing the F103's. I rather we use the silver can motors to keep it less expensive on the drivers, besides the speed it still there with the silver can motors.

That was actually a sedan race, but an F1 endurance would defenitley be sweet. Oh and the winner was none other than Dave Jun.
