Default Triton Charger Dilema

My original Triton charged 4 cells at 5 amps. Great planes did a recall for problems on Li-Po cells. When it came back, I couldn't get more than 2.5 amps on 4 cells. I sent it back; it returned with a note saying my PS was blinky. Not so. I sent it back again, it came back again, still maxing at 2.5 amps.

It's a nice little charger and does 6 cells at 5 amps, but I bought it for 1/12th scale racing and I'm buggin'

There's no reference in the hand book for setting the quantity of cells. What am I missing, other than a few brain cells ? This is driving me nuts..

Any clues out there ??

It won't charge a 4 cell pack any higher than 2.5 amps. Something in the programming. I sold both of mine and bought a Duratrax Ice chargers to replace them.

Does anyone know if the Triton 2 has the same limitation. This will be used with 4 cell Nimh batteries.

Thanks

Does not make sense to me.

My Triton Jr. will charge 4 cells @ 5 amps.

So I would believe that the Triton should do the same.

I looked at the original Triton manual and in the chart It list the max current at 5 volts is only 2.7 amps. This must have been changed with the Triton JR and Triton 2. I'm looking to jump into 1/12th scale and my current charger (mrc 977) will only charge a 4 cell Nimh at max current of 3.5 amps. It will charge a 5 cell at 5 amps. It has a limit in the software.

Thanks for the reply.
