3 of us abused the crap out of our Novak boosters with boosted 13.5, never once saw a brown out. One of the guys even ran one with a 4.5 in Mod, never browned out on him, either.

Not saying it can't happen, just that you think it would have if it were common or a design limitation.

Either way, there are better choices on the market for a booster than the Novak unit, and units as good as the TQ for about a third of the price (if you're willing to put in 5 minutes soldering).

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have had the booster and will use it until it fails then replace it with something like the TQ.

Sure, just like Code Brown Stadium down in your neck of the woods.

HobbyKing boosters work great, and you can't beat the price.

Everyone at our track who had smart boosts took them out once V203 came out. They would hit the LVC and knock out the RX. Now we are running oval. Was a real problem. I used dimension engineering boosters which all failed once I switched to V203. The TQ and Wreckless Abandon boosters both work well and had no issues.

Thanks
Nor-Cal's track is only a tad wider; so, I would recommend an end of approximately 8,000 rpm and start of approximately 2,500 rpm. Come down by hundreds from 8,000 to fine tune for your situation...doubt you will get below 7,600...pretty easy.

FYI...I have some very good 17.5/13.5/10.5 motors; so, I am only speaking to good motors. Can't help a so-so motor...Sorry!

Bill

Some other boosters out there. No switch, but I've seen them work just fine. The current rating might be a limiting factor depending on the servo.

Its a local guy, I bought mine through e-team hobby plex, http://www.eteamhobbyplex.com/ I talked to the builder/designer of the booster yesterday. The gen 1, which I use is rated at 1.5 amps. He is now working on a 5+ amp version, which should be out shortly. I guess the Savox servo's draw tons of current due to how they control the servo vs futaba and others. Cant wait for his new booster. He is removing the switch from the power circuit, and putting it on the booster to just control the IC. Should be able to handle all the power you need.
