I race med size track with a decent straight.
Just recently my novak beeps red and now im losing throttle! Always finished races until I got this booster 12th scale jinx. Drive clean is my motto, but now I dont even finish! Viagra

What motor and how much timing on the motor?
What radio?

So you only have had this problem since you put the booster in? The novak booster is known to have lipo cut issues. I've never seen it the cause of lack of turbo.

Most of the time when cars tend to start falling off toward the end of the race, it's because of too much timing. I'm not saying that's your problem, just have seen it a lot.

Your timing looks fins as long as you have the motor set to 0 or close to it. I forget what brand radios have had problems with the end point wondering, but I think it is the KO's. You should probably try the calibration trick anyway since you are having the problem.

What vers hotwire ?
Novak booster issues are common.
Try TQ booster, or rec pack.

I have the wiring diagram to remove the lipo protection on the Novak booster and that stops it cutting out. Pm me your email address and I will send it to you.
As for it dropping off mid/late race I would say it's the motor going soft due to it only being 17.5. I had the exact same problem with the same motor and rollout. I switched to 10.5 because of it on the end.
Hope this helps

with such a low rpm range for boost, you may be overtaxing your battery.

to prove it to yourself, you might try switching in a fresh battery after 4minutes and verify that you regain the speed and punch that you had.

adding boost with a larger rpm range (like 3k to 10k for start and end) will put less stress on the battery. your initial lap times might be a little slower, but you won't lose so much after 5 minutes.

what motor?

I have both a duo 1, and duo 3 and my profile looked like yours when I started tinkering. I was having the fade problem too. If the motor temp gets over 140 ish on a 17.5 on 1s you will see the motor "lay down".

My profile now is

boost 35
turbo 10 ramp 3 .05 delay.

Gearing is 76/45 with 1.70 tires Rollout is around 3.16

My car is just as fast and consistent the whole race. I found in my experimenting that having the boost above 35 seemed to make a lot of heat without any positive effect on laptimes.

The booster issue is just that. The booster isn't keeping your reciever from hitting LVC failsafe. I prefer a life or lipo receiver pack in my 12th scales.

Almost everyone at my local track has dropped back under 40 on their boost since I made my discovery and our temps dropped around 15- 20 degrees an every brand 17.5

Hi,

About lowering your boost setting.

You use almost no delay on the turbo setting.

Does that mean that you directly press full throttle exiting a corner?

A lot of people seem to use that lately, when i ran my tekin in a TC, i only used the turbo on the straight with or without a delay, i had so much punch that i did not need to open the throttle in full in the infield.

In 12th scale, it seems that most drivers open it in full in stock and then use the turbo to directly add up to the boost exiting the corner.

I only ran it once like that and it is much easier to drive since you never pace your throttle you use it almost on/off.

I was wondering if everyone was doing it this way in stock.

2-3 start
8500 end,you can lower if you want it more aggressive
45,you can add more as you run to get a feel for it,around 50-53
5 motor
everything else is to your feel,

+1

I don't bother with any turbo when running 1s unless the track has a really long straight. I found on short tracks it just dumps a load of timing/heat just at the end of the straight. Don't get me wrong when I run on a large track it is great.

+1. If I need good pickup on a tight infield, I add 5 deg to the motor and gear down. Otherwise, I use full boost and no turbo. Car is fast and motor is cool.
