if you are talking 39 to 45mm roll out, you are way under geared. on a duo 2 I am running round 92mm and another racer running a nemisis is over 102mm. also your speedo setup could be off.

as far as you 1s, I would try and cycle it. us like 23-24amp discharge. that is what a good 17.5 setup averages.

also with a good 17.5 setup your novak will most likely have"brown" out issues

Had an issue with my 12sclae this weekend and not sure what is going on.

I've been running a 10.5 with no problems, but when I switched to a 17.5 had problems.

I use a Tekin RS, novak booster, Reedy 4600 1s battery Tekin 17.5 redline.

So after a full charge it seems to run fine... the turbo kicks in but after a few minute, I lose a lot of power and the I get no more turbo.

I tried a 2s lipo and removed the 1s lipo feature on the tekin and seemed to work fine, so am assuming Tekin is fine.

Also after my first run with my regular setup my motor went up to 205 degrees.

I tried another tekin , same problem, tried another booster, same thing. bought another 17.5, went up to 140 after 3min.

Could it be the battery?? or could it be a setup in the tekin?

How would I know if my 1s is going bad?

I also played around with gearing, as low as a 39 and high as 45, all with the same prob,

Any insite or suggestions would be great.

thanks

First...What is your Voltage Cutoff set to on your RS? Should be Off with single cell.

Having tuned my Tekin to lessen the voltage drop off towards the end of a run, I switched from boosters to a life battery pack for powering my ESC/servo.

Without seeing your Tekin settings, everything else would be just guessing...

And...add in everything Yang says above.

i dont have my tekin yet but alot of people at my local track do and to me it sounds like you timing boost is to high or you need to turn your ramp up a bit that help me when i had this problem with my mamba but im not sure about the tekin so i would ask a couple others before doing anything. Hope this helps!

You, an apparent 2S TC guy (by your signature) that doesn't even own an RS, dare to challenge the wisdom of Emperor Yang (and Bill). Perhaps you need to read a few more posts in this forum. j/k

Yes you can.
I run 5.5 to 3.5 motor using "Dual mode" with v203.

Satish, the problem is your novak smart boost. When using the 203 software the smartboost seems to get confused when i think the turbo kicks in.
If you want your car to go fast you'll have to ditch the smart boost and use another booster or receiver pack

But he had no problems with the 10.5 and smart boost. So that really doesn't make sense.

It seems like a setting issue. You're not running the same ESC settings with the 17.5 as the 10.5 are you?

He probably didnt realise he had changed things.....
Trust me smartboost and 203 do not work. Look through the thread at people who havent been able to get it to work.

The smartboost gets confused and goes into lipo cut off or something. I could even get it to happen when off the track and i was holding the car just reving the motor up and down. Turning the VC off on the tekin does not help resolve this issue.

But if it was working with the 10.5 why wouldn't it work with the 17.5?

I know lots of people are having issues with the smart boost, but some aren't. I ran the smart boost and 203 with 0 issues.

Are you running high boost and any turbo at all?

In my opinion one or both of those cause the problem. if it works for you, well you are lucky.....

ya I had no issues running a 10.5
Settings were diferent from 17.5, since i have never run 17.5 I had some of the locals use the same settings that they were using.

Gearing was a 78spur and i tried a range of pinions from 39 - 45tooth.

Just couldnt understand why i ran fine with a 10.5 but a 17.5 gave me such problems.

What i can do is post up my Tekin settings tonight, I'll just do a screenshot and attach it.
If anyone else can do the same maybe we can compare

thanks everyone

Satish take the car and spool it up and down to try and get the problem to happen while your holding it. If you see the smart boost start going i think its red its the voltage cut off on the smart boost that is causing the problem not the tekin.

Keep in mind that the smartboost is effectively directly connected to the battery.

the higher the winds the more aggressive the setup. my 17.5 setup has 53 timing and 10 turbo. that is 63 degrees of timing and a duo set at the lowest setting is still more then 10 degrees soi have over 73 degrees of timing to the motor. my 13.5 is a little less, not much. i run 50 timing and 5-6 turbo. so that totals 65 or so.

also I squeeze the rpm range down to 2000 rpm delta, ramp 3 and tp 5 for my 17.5 car, and 2500 rpm delta, ramp 2 and tp 3 for my 13.5.

all this makes the battery work harder and at some point, if you are running a booster, the main pack just can not produce enough to run the booster and the tekin. I guarantee that the tekin wins that war.
