Default Japanese Exotics

Hey all,

RCTEch is truly a global community-so I am hoping this is the place to gather up all the good info. I am curious who in the US distributes all of these Japanese Exotics (Ova, Barracuda, Kai, Speedmind, etc.) and where do you go to get spare parts and all the hop-ups?

Is it call SpeedtechRC for Barracuda and another company for Kai hop-ups, then e-mail Hong Hong and buy this brand and that brand-then call another 'Guy" on thw web who has a few hot-items of the week?

Theres no doubt that Japan has got amazing cars and Lots of them. Weve got the Tc3 and Losi for the most part-and then the occasional, Demon, Assasin, X-Ray, Schumacher will pop up at your track.

From a business point of view-do all of the Japanese practice planned obsolescence on its cars so you are constantly having a box of obsolete suspension components? My Yokomo MR4Tc was like that. Every month there was a new hop-up and sometimes it didnt work with the all the parts attached to it. Crazy.

To make a long stroty short, when you see a MY02 or a RCLab-did a peron buy it Black or Greymarket?

Thanks everyone,
Ray

Integy imports the Team Atlas cars. I got mine from them. They have a pretty good stock of parts but they're a bit high on pricing. I emailed Miwa Hobby, the builders, and they said they would sell to me direct. I've never had to order anything, in a year of racing, I haven't broken a single part. I know somebody is importing the Tech's, just can't remember who.

Speedmind is distributed by Magma RC, in Toronto, so there are a few guys in TO with Speedmind cars. Apparently theres been some sort of problem iwth their supplier, though, so Im noit sure whats going on with that.

In any event, Speedmind foams, and possibly Daytona parts can be found at www.magmarc.com. Its all in Canadian dollars, to, its not even real money

By the way,
I think speedmind is not a japanese exotic
it's a Hong Kong exotic!

i think what "ray" means in japanese exotics, is japan as a whole thing overall, combining all of china, japan, that whole area. I do that too, just name one country over there, and it means that whole area.

I live in the UK and drive a Barracuda & an Atlas type-T. getting spares is a pain, I order most of mine from Japan but the cars are IMO a whole ot nicer than TC3 or XXXS etc.

Yeah, I live in the UK too and run a Tamiya TRF 414Mwcr and some parts can be found here (those which are on the TA04), but the rest need to be ordered from Japan...which can be a little annoying...but overall I think its worth it.

So the draw and intrigue of these cars is so good that you'd put up with all the hassles of parts...interesting!!

I agree, seveal of these cars look very nice.....

But, nothing is more of a pain than to be TQ and not be able to run the main due to breaking a part in the last qual and no one has any parts...

So, from now on I have always bought a car with part support, even if I didn't like the car as well as some of the others.

Hi Tony, hope you're well. The R3 doesn't appeal, not too much new from the R2 and that sparkle chassis - YUK!!

The 415, looks lovely I've got that and a Pro-4 on the shopping list
