hi guys just assembling my cup racer Datsun 510 any ideas on front shocks what works better stand up or lay down? tires as well any recommendations on tires for asphalt that will fit standard rims? thanks.

I have the Datsun cup racer and I really like the retro look,but in my opinion the stock wheels looked like balloon tires of a previous era gone bad so I am using the Tamiya wheels and M grip tires which fit much nicer under the body lowering my chassis and giving the car much better handling. I'm using the stand up setup for the shocks,frt pink springs,70 wgt shockoil and in the rear 50wgt shockoil with the blue springs

I'm running on carpet, so this setup may not be much help.
I'm running the 510 with the front shocks laid down. One hole front piston with 60wt oil and stock copper spring. Three hole piston in the rear with 30wt oil and stock gold spring. I glued the edge of the box stock front tires to give them a little slide before I heard from others that FX traction compound was the ticket. So leaving the CA on the fronts and compounding all four tires completely worked out very well for me this weekend. Going to be tinkering with oil, springs and sway bars next to take some roll out of the chassis, but it is holding it's own out there, just about a tenth off the fastest car for now, but the consistency in the feel of the car is keeping it in or close to the front.

Question for the Cup Racer Experts-
We are starting a spec class with the Cup Racers and we need to sort out the tires- as I understand it, HPI's rims are special and if you want to use their rims, you'd obviously be stuck with the tire range that HPI offers currently. Otherwise, you run the Mini rims that Tamiya designed with aftermarket tires. Problem is- if you have the Porsche you'd have to run non-offset Mini rims with a hub spacer if you wanted aftermarket tires right? Has anyone had luck with the optional Soft HPI tire?

I'm new to this scale and waiting the arrival of my Cup Racer.
I have a few questions that hope you can help me.
I need to buy a motor+ESC combo and I am thinking go brushless ,
What would be a fast (but controlable) motor choice for the Cup...?
12T...? , 9T...?
What about HPI 5600kV Flux Brushless System...? how many turns is ...?
I have seen 1:10 TT-01s running 5.5T 6000kV but I dont know if that is excesive for this small 1:10 chassis....
Other question , are the Tamiya M-chassis rims compatible with the Cup Racer...? somebody told me they also have 12mm hex hubs....
Any other interesting part compatibility...?
