I've scanned through this thread, and there are lots of good ideas, and links. I have been looking for upgrades for my 240Z cup racer, but haven't found as many as has been posted in this thread.

This is my first hobby level RC, and I have to say I'm impressed with the adjustablity to the chassis, before even swapping parts out.

I'll post pictures when I get the body painted, and have enough posts.

Here is my latest CR creation.

The chassis is fully loaded, and set up for drifting.

So it seems that the first upgrade should be the front diff input cup (PN 85281-10)?

I see a lot of failures mentioned has anyone that runs their car hard not broken it?

I ran my car with the plastic one for awhile but changed it to the Exotek AL one before it broke. Problem is if it breaks where the 3 "pins" are you'll have a hard time getting the piece off when the screw has red loctite. You'll notice there are 2 flats on the cup to let you hold it while turning the screw. With broken pins, the metal bevel gear that was locked into them spins with the screw. Not impossible to remove and replace the broken cup but a PITA.

I'm on the last steps of this car. Trying to order the electronics today if possible.

I have not found the cirtix esc + motor combo in stock anywhere, so still finding something reasonable.
As for the radio + receiver, i'm settled on Airtronics MX-3X 2.4GHz Competition Pistol Grip w/RX-45 . Bit more expensive, but I can use it with my 3 other cars (just needs rx's units for them).

Suggestions on servo for the cup racer? So far i've found Savox SH-1357 Super Speed Mini Digital Servo in this thread. Any other options?

Sydewynder, nice meeting you today!

I was able to order the esc from speedpassion (lets hope it ships soon).
I'm considering ordering this battery: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXBDZX&P=ML (Venom LiPo 2S 7.4V 5000mAh 25C Hard Case Universal ). this battery should be ok with the speed passion esc + motor?

Nice meeting you too dazed1.

As for the battery it'll work with the esc. Only thing you need to look at is the position of the wires. Since I'm not using the stock chassis I don't recall if there are any restrictions on the wires with the way the stock battery mount is for rectangular packs. You just need to make sure the battery fits with the wires accessible.

I am using my cup racer for drifting only. I took the gear diff from the front and put it in the rear. I cut two nails down to size so I could use them to keep the gears from moving in the rear diff. I got this idea from 3rd Boss on RC Universe. Just search "Rear lockout for HPI Cup RaceR". For the one way diff, suzux90 had a cool video showing how to make your own. Search "one way build" on Youtube. I would give you the links, but I am still a rookie on this site and have not posted enough to have permission to do so.
