Agreed, All good guys. I was torn between the BMI, CRC and Darkside. Again as stated earlier, all of these cars will perform well when dialed in, including the Xray. I personally picked the CRC because of the front end and the 2S lipo friendly battery tray. Our track will start running WGT with 21.5 this Sunday. There will be 3 CRCs, a couple of RC10L3s and a few other variations tossed in. I have a Trinity Street Spec that could go if it had a body!

What I am not prepared for is double the expense to replace broken parts if I were to drive an Xray. I tapped a wall and broke a front carrier hub and lost a bushing in my T1FK05 today. As the shop only had 3* carriers in stock, I had to buy a matching set, no big deal. But I had to buy a full bushing set which costs almost 20.00 for 4 tiny little pieces of brown Hudy metal. If this car had Associated parts, would it have held up as well? Probably. Would it have cost me 42.00 to put it back on the road? No way, under 15.00 is more like it. Xray makes decent products, but all the hype doesn't and never will justify the cost. I don't expect any vendor to give away replacements, but it shouldn't cost 10% of the cars initial value every time it breaks.

I wish this car well. Someone will win with it. Someone will win with BMI. Someone will win with CRC. Everyone will carry the banner of their chassis in the never ending battle to come out on top.

Is carbon fiber expensive? $86.00 for a 12 X 24 (2.9 mm thick) is not free.
Aircraft grade aluminum stock isn't cheep either, but you can cut a ton of parts out of one sheet.
Engineering is an annual salary and doesn't impact the cost much Unless they're like an F1 team and have whole teams of engineers for each component.
Development, making a one off for testing can get pricey in machining fees.

I drove a Gen X-10 the other night with a 21.5 2 cell lipo. I impressed on how fast it was. Good luck on the parts don't break to many parts.

Who designs the HB, TC5, Phi cars? Someone that you just can not contact. Nor does it say on the website of those companies. This hobby is very different than it was 20 years ago heck even 10 years ago. All the top manufactures have seemed to have gotten eaten up by corporations. Mr. Hudy is a designer by heart and wants to make the best stuff and that is why we see so many Xray changes. No one will ever get a car design right the first time. Drivers will make design changes all the time. At least with Xray when a change is worth using they bring it out quickly. Some manufactures just sit on their hands without making the changes to the parts that you and I buy. yet they save them for their team drivers.
You can see Bob Stellflue from AE at most of the big races. He's a nice guy too.

Frank from CRC is also awesome. I bought his car a year ago, and when he sees me, basically a nobody, he says "Hey, come by if you need anything".

Both companies have excellent representation at the races. Xray does too.

There is a thread on here for the Associated car as well that Sean views along with other team drivers. They are always helping out if asked.

Basically all of the companies have one form of support or another. How you use the support is up to you. Just don't be afraid to ask a question.

I think just about all of them copy Associated's bolt pattern.

If it's the same front arms as the XII, then it's different from the old "standard" hole pattern. The new front end uses 3mm screws and the pattern is even different than the "R5" bolt patterns.

Here is the final stab in this thread: let's wait for this car to come out. Let's see what the price will be. If the price is well justified (as in more than that poor excuse on the Xray website describing this car), I will pick one up (I own't lie) and try it out.

For all we know, this could be the next best car out on the market or it could be the biggest flop.

Let's all sit back and wait for the thing to come out.

RX7, that Stig video is real. Pay close attention to the voices you hear and you may hear James May's voice and Jeremy Clarkson's voice. Top Gear is going to update their site about the black Stig's return soon. I just hope the rumors of the White Stig vs the Black Stig is true. That will be an epic race!
that would be a bad ass race

i've been looking to get into 1/10 pan car (WGT) for most of the winter months.
after looking at the different chassis avaliable they all show good qualities, crc leads the way by being the most powertrain friendly, xray for being simple and easy to make go fast, and AE for being a little different for once.

i'm still undecided mainly because xray does have great quality parts, but the others are locally produced here in the USA so that also influence's me!
as for which i'll buy still up in the air?

as for the guys bashing the design and innovation of the xray, just don't buy it if you don't like it then don't look at the xray site and just forget about them existing if that's what you need to make you guys feel better, forums are for positive feedback!!!
