Default Speedo Choice - SPX\SXX\Tekin\KO

Hi guys...

yes, its one of them questions again....

Looking through the forums I can't really find any real comparisons.... Hopefully some of you would have experianced them all.

To give you a overview, I run in the UK in stock 10.5 Class, currently running a Speedpassion GT 1.0 Speedo, on both outdoor highspeed and indoor tight carpet tracks... I just don't find the GT cuts the mustard anymore.

Im looking at a new speedo and looking at the above. I have read there is things like on the fly variable timing etc(changes while you race etc). Just a bit lost in all the tech. Is there anything I should be looking for?

Im swaying towards the LRP's just for the fact they have more proven race crediblity as ive not seen many if any KO or Tekins about, is there any technical reason for looking at the others?

Also on a purely stock racing side, would it be better to get the SPX or wait for the SXX?

Many thanks

Tekin's just did very well at the snowbirds.

I have not yet gone brushless but soon I will be going with Tekin. I have had nothing but good results with their past products and the support they provide both here and on other forums is superb. That's the real kicker for me, I know I can always get the latest tips and firmware from the Tekin racers and employees right here.

Tekin RS with Hotwire gives you the ability to tweak everything to your liking. Other ESC's just give you defaults settings they think will fit your track. I prefer the Tekin RS over any other ESC out right now.

I've got a new Hobbywing Xerun v2.0

Its awesome with a load of functions!!! If you want the Speed Passion version, just wait... Its going to be awesome! Although it should be available where you are! Its got tooo many functions and cool stuff to mention! But one cool thing will be the accesories. There's a brushless analyzer and a LCD program unit

go with LRP SPX Stock Spec........

4 power profiles for stock racing is more than enough........

besides in UK (like here in Brazil) you will race at some fast flowing outdoor tracks and the SPX will be the fastest choice (imo)........

I've been running the Tekin RS, and I'm completely happy with the choice. The fact that the internal firmware is upgradeable makes it the best choice out there in my opinion. When Tekin comes up with an idea that improves the speedo, I download it and update the speedo. I'm sure that at some point there will be a need for new hardware, every possible improvement won't be achievable in software, but the Tekin is a lot more "future proof" than non-upgradeable speedos.

I could be mistaken on this, but at the moment, I don't think there's any speedo out there that's more "tuneable" than the Tekin, either.

Tekin's RS series is so adjustable it can go from 0 to overkill and everywhere in between so no one out there can say they have better or more than Tekin. The RS is small and light with no need for a fan in any of the stock classes. Just wait till the 8th scale guys get their hands on the RX8. The other companies keep making you buy new speed controls and Tekin just keeps raising the bar with the RS series.

THe spx is fast on large trax but not faster than a Tekin.
On smaller tracks the advantige of changing timing and more settings pays off. it leaves all other speedo's far behind. The spx is than not faster than a normal lrp speedcontroler wile the Tekin is still faster.
My choice is the Tekin RS pro.
The Genius has also a lot of settings on it but it is to much.
And the speedo isn't faster than the spx or a Tekin.
With the updates that Tekin has you are always ahead of competition without having to buy a new speedo.

I never saw any hobby shop sell about 50+ speedos in 1 week..Birds the SPX was in hot demand..man when they reved them up the sales went up..I saw soo many people with other units swap out for the new frenzy...Tekins were also in many cars..

Im new to this and was wonderig what you mean by the SPX was fast.. but not as fast as the Tekin. What makes one ESC faster than another...

I have Speedpassion GT 1.1 and I love it.. although I have nothng to compare it to seeing as how it is my first speed control.

Software (actually I guess firmware is the right word) and set-up.

You will just not find better speedo's on the market for the value and tunability than the Tekins. Tekin RS and RS Pros offer real advantages particularly when it comes to 10.5, 13.5 and 17.5 classes.
