10th touring losing popularity?
Is this class gaining or losing popularity to other classes? In my area it almost dies except for the winter months while off road stays strong all year long.
|
It seems to be fairly strong at R/C madness, but offroad still dominates even during the winter months. (8 Slashes + jumps = mayhem)
|
In Vegas it is dead from November till March but then is strong for the other months...

If you read Xtreme magazine TC is dead & buried. In our area ( Chicagoland) we can race carpet in the winter and parking lots in the summer.
|
Im curious why this is the case?

TC is alive and well year 'round out here in socal. Hell, we had 63 RCGT cars alone at one recent race. That was kind of a one-off, but there interest is here to make that kind of thing happen.

I think everything is dead in USA. Only Asia countries are better for everything.

The list goes on, and on, and on... |
In my country TC or any onroad racing is the most popular, only few runs offroads, its the opposite of whats happening in the USA. But then again we are just a small community.

TC is definately alive here in Perth, Australia...
but then again, so is offroad.. biggest difference i see here is that an offroad track is easier/cheaper to build and i think thats why there are more also, nitro onroad was dominating throughout the 80s and 90s, but due to new laws and noise requirements its now electric i think everyone in general in these areas are moving to electric, with a few diehards staying in the nitro scene (which isnt exactly small though) what i've seen the most lately are racers cutting back from the intense serious end of the hobby, to something a little cheaper and more fun.. modified touring here has pretty much died out for this year, but i think many ppl who were racing are finding the costs too high (also some cant handle cars that fast, especially with lipos etc) F1s are making a HUGE return here, with lots of ppl coming into this class.. superstock 19/10.5 seems to be where all the modified drivers have gone to and also the more competitive of the stock racers |
Dallas TX area its completely dead.
There are a few that race WGT and 12th but there seems to be no interest in those two classes from spectators or new blood. Ive actually seen a few people get up from watching WGT and comment how boring it was to watch. |
Seems like on-road in general. Not just TC.

We've got a pretty good following in MD; but as far as media coverage they could care less.
