Default SPX Zero

How do the 6 power profiles in the new SPX Zero compare to the older SPX? Are they the same, just with the zero timing mode added?

I know the spec is 3.5, but can that be done with out cooling?

What is the lowest turn motor anyone has ran with out a heat sink and/or fan?

Anyone know if this speedo is legal for 17.5 no timing class? If so what profile?

SPX is not legal for no-timing because even with lowest profile, it has some timing added. Only the newer SPX Zero is ROAR legal for no-timing.

Is the Zero no timing in all of the power profiles or just in mode zero?

Is it normal that this esc just shuts down when my 2s 5000 mah turnigy goes below 7.9 volts? It is in lipo mode, and runs good until this point, then just shuts down. Does work with nimh's. Checked soldering and contacts, but thats all ok. really dont know what it can be....any advises? Lipo is brand new, had this issue yesterday en today again....

this probably has been answered on here but im too lazy to look for the answer, can the spx be run with a 1s for 1/12th scale? does it just need a voltage booster?

Yes it will need a booster, I believe only SXXv2 & SXXSS have that built in.
SPX would be ok for blinky, if it were legal to run that.

If you're looking to run a sanctioned event, then no. However if you're looking to run it at your local club race, it should be okay. I ran an SPX back in the early days of boost. Honestly, it was slightly faster than my Novak GTB but it was still nowhere near the Tekin. So unless you're lapping the entire field by more than 2 laps, I wouldn't worry about it.

Nowadays people are now advancing the timing on the motor. In the past, this would mean you would have a burned motor at the end of your run but the newer motors are able to withstand and dissipate more heat, hence they can take more motor timing. Really with that in mind, it all evens out.

I'm from the old days of stock where motors had FIXED timing. Really if someone or ROAR wants to enforce a SPEC class, it should be done with zero timing speedos and fixed timing motors.

So the SPX can take an input of 3.7V? I thought a lot of these 2S style ESCs had a minimum input voltage threshold that was above 3.7V. If what you say is true, it could save me the trouble of having to buy a 1s specific ESC.

Check out this schematic, you can run a 1s LiPo Rx pack with a little wiring modification...

YR Dude:

Exactly
But you will still have a few issues.
1: no blinky mode
2: if running boosted, the new esc are much faster.

But if you just want to throw down and get back into 12th, bring it to TQ

We run blinky 17.5, and Mod, or 13.5 boosted, depending on who show's up.
Sometimes the classes are combined, and it's always fun.

That problem goes away when you run Mod

Default Stock (no timing)

Gday All,

Been away for a while and was wondering if anybody is using this ESC for Stock Racing (no timing allowed)?

I am using the SPX in my Team Associated T4 with a 17.5 and was wondering if its legal to use in ROAR / AARCMCC race meets?

Ben
