Default lrp spx my thoughts so far

being using the spx for 3 months with novak 17.5 and 13.5 motors. l have used profiles 5 to 8 with these motors , gear ratio 3.9/1 and 4.9/1

profile 5 = nice and smooth
profile 6 = has a increase in top end speed
profile 7 = increase in acceleration and top end
profile 8 = like driving a on/off switch

currently lam racing 13.5 ratio 4.9/1, if you are looking for even more kick from the spx you should fit the novak 13mm rotor , you will ballistic out of the corners , using setting 7.
before that l used a 17.5 motor on a 3.9/1 ratio, with a lrp tc speedo now there was a slight delay with power coming on tap similar to a brushed motor, changed to spx no such delay was felt and was competative with the 13.5 runners.
l did blow out a novak 13.5 motor on 4.4 gear ratio and spx speedo, so you must alter the gear ratio

I know, I know...it's the Kevin Woods syndrome...

I will slow down on TC while I get the hang of the WGT Single Cell setup for the IIC. Not totally sure that the SPX is the answer for 1P power.

Been reading some of the pg's here and curious to know why a lot of you guys using profile 7 where Ive found profile 8 is quicker. I run 10.5 (rubber on asphalt)

I want profile 11.

On a side note, been using the SPX with a Novak 13.5, without the beveled front can and 13mm rotor as I couldnt find a replacement 12.3 at the time. The combo is fast enough, I just have an interesting observation. Our track is asphalt, about 100ftx 50ft, layout changes every race. I have tried FDR of 4-6 and do not get the second gear punch feeling, nor can I get the Novak over 130 F, and track temps have been well over 100F as of late.

Not that it bothers me, but a few others have confirmed this as well with their SPX and Novak 13.5. The combo so far has been fast enough. Using profiles 7 and 8. Right now my gearing is 100/40 with a 2.0 internal ratio. This is the same FDR I used when using the Sphere TC 07 spec interestingly enough.

so putting in a 13mm would give you more torque or rpm?

And the questions what gearing are you using 9.5 with lipo batt.?
Esc is SPX and i put profile 7 beacous i think 8 is have to much power with 7.4V.

Thank's orzel

I honestly don't think it's "JUST" that simple. However, they story sold to us is that a bigger rotor will provide more torque. As we are dealing with a single ratio car, maybe things are just that simple... Also, to get more RPM, as you know, the SPX increases timing the faster it goes, which HAS to increase torque as well or we would not be seeing these speeds.

I know in real cars, because of drag, you need more torque/power to go faster, not just more RPMs.... I need to buy another 12.3mm rotor and try that out, however I am waiting for the Novak 13.5 Ballistic series to start shipping.

Default Difference in Gearing

I just changed my speed controller from the LRP TC Spec (using profile 6) to an SPX (Using Profile 6) using a LRP 10.5 with FDR of 5.35 (1/10 Touring Rubber tyres & 7.4v lipo)

What ratio would be best to use with the SPX?

Thanks
Karl

Larger rotor = more torque, Smaller rotor = more RPM.

The larger the rotor, the magnet in the rotor moves closer to the stack/winding, thus more magnetic pull to each poll, while just the opposite with a smaller rotor.

My SPX quit working properly, does not do the accelerated timing on profiles 6, 7, and 8 anymore, and instead works almost like a normal sphere now. Anyone else experience this?
