i asked this very same question and was told if using a stock spec motor use the spx. the sxx will not have the profiles to give the advantage to the stock spec motors.

I was thinking of buying the SPX after reading numerous reviews. I was thinking how it better than the LRP TC Spec ESC (80750). I am using the particular ESC all the while and it was good and never failed me.

As for the SPX TC, I was thinking red/orange a common problem? Do we need to wait for 2nd batch or improvise ver from LRP? I mean is it a bug or what?

I'm using mine without any issues and works great. I wouldn't wait.

with the higher profiles, eg 7,8, can you run manual timing on the motor?

If so, can you run max manual timing on the motor and profile 8, with a big change in gearing?

Well, I'm running mid timing on my DUO motor with profile 8 and it still runs, so it's possible.

The best thing to prevent to possibility of blowing it all up is leave the motor timing at default and gear properly.

Say 3t down on the pinion for profile 7 and 4t down for profile 8.

Guys have also mentioned that using any drag brake on setting 8 can help kill the motors.

I need the optimized gearing for Speed Passion 13.5 and 17.5T with SPX Stock Spec Profile 7 or 8, for Associated B4 2wd buggy. Can someone help me out?

I've tried just about every timing, profile, and rollout on my SPX in my 1/12 cars, and I just can't get the speed everyone else is with the older LRP Sphere's and other motors.

I'm using the LRP Stock Spec x-11 motors in my 17.5 and 13.5 cars (1/12) and the temps will vary from 120F to 160F depending the profile and rollout, but it never seems to make much difference in what I do.

Are the LRP x-11 Stock Spec motors weak compared to other brands? Or are these motors just not performing well with the SPX...?

On that note, what motors have the you SPX users found to work the best with the SPX...?

3 or 4t down, is that 48p or 64p?

I'm actually going to run it in 2wd off road 17.5, which I have geared at 4.8fdr .
So I gather 5.8fdr on profile 7 or 8 would be safe?
How about 6.5dr on profile 8 on max motor timing?

I'm just asking so possibly cut down on testing time, and dont have the spx yet to figure it out.

Anyone do a benchmark with TC Spec vs SPX.

For example connecting to Speed Passion 11.5T motor, run both of the ESC at ADPC 6. So which one runs faster at Stock speed. Battery wise, car setting all same.

Because you are using an LRP speed control and motor, I would suggest PMing to Burito on this thread (who is Reto of LRP). He should be able to help you.

Profile 6 on the SPX is similar to profile 8 on the old ESC's

Actually the stock spec motors puts out more power than the normal X-11. The LRP motors have higher RPM than most other, we normally go 0.2-0.4 up in gear ratio. The sweet spot is harder to hit, compared to a SP or GM in my opinion.

The bigger the track, the bigger the advantage of using the SPX. On most indoor tracks, I haven't noticed any significant difference. But on outdoor tracks build for nitro, you often have to choose between straight line speed or acceleration out of tight turns. The increased high rpm timing of the SPX, will allow you to gear lower without loosing straight line speed.

An advantage on large tracks. Indoor not noticeable, but not a disadvantage.

Best,
Peter

Default Initial Brake

What is the effect of MODE.3 (Initial Brake): the manual describes it as "Allows you to set a certain level of „hand-brake-effect“."

Does it make the brake have a step function at the beginning of the brake travel? Does it cause the brake to engage hard at the begining of the travel?

Mode 4 Automatic Brake is simpler it adds brake in neutral.
