I was more interested in whether or not the changed shock angle etc made a significant difference... things like that

They are much smoother and dont feel lumpy. You can also set the diff looser than the stock 03 balldiff.

Not with lipo... running it with a Yeah racing or Orion 3200 and its actually underweight... by about 100 grams.... even with my MaxAmps 5000 pack it was still about 30 grams underweight...

It shouldn't change the shock angles at all from looking at them. Most of the aftermarket arms I have seen are just copies of the stock ones with no angle changes.

The aluminum ones I had where directly like the stock plastic ones. The pic of the one you posted do have some angle. I actually like the setup you posted. I like that little bit of extra angle. Would be fun to try a set of those sometime.

Converting an 'R' to an 'F'
Back in the day, My father and I had TA03's. I had an R and he had an F. I just recently found 2 NIB TA03-r's and bought them both. But what I can't find to save my life is an F.
So, I got to thinking. A buddy of mine has a crap ton of old Tamiya parts, and I thought, 'aren't most of the parts interchangable?' If anyone could help me out on the parts list that I need, I would appreciate it very much. His B-day is coming up soon and I want to surprise him with it.

anyways, the R's are easy to convert, you just need the rear 03F gearcase (B Parts #50699) to convert it. just move the TA03R's rear gearcase to the front, make sure you have the motor guard (A Part (#50698) No.3 in the tree).
the Reinforced Damper Stay (Low Mount Type - Part #53337) isnt really a necesity. i think rcmart still has them on stock, they have the rear gearcase too last i checked ... in gray though.
hth!
