i have a question on the 415 mxs. on the front camber link. the inner stud holes. what does each of the holes do?? i have had them in the #2 hole per setup sheet. what will change( in handling ) if i would move to the #3 or forward most hole. thanks jeremy

Just picked up a second hand 415MSX and i'm intending to run it in Stock with a 17.5 BL. It would appear that around 3.5 FDR is a optimum starting point, however to get this I need 50T 48P pinion and 80T 48P spur . Tamiya make the 50 pinion but even if i get this combination will it even fit and is the FDR right.

I have my 415MRE and as soon as I get all of the electronics installed I will post some pics.
This change also effects roll center, but not as much as messing with the lower arm...
Spacing the arm up & down also effects how the camber is gained. An upper link that's more parallel gains camber slower than an upper arm that points upwards towards the tire. This change has more of an effect on roll-center, but still not as much as the lower arm angle...
Tamiya pinions are metric "module" which refers to the actual height of a single tooth in millimeters. SAE Pitch refers to the number of teeth on a 1" diameter gear (a 1" diameter 48ptich pinion will have 48 teeth). These are two different units of measure and are not compatible...
To answer your question directly, SAE 48pitch is a bit smaller than Metric 0.6mod. SAE 64pitch is slightly smaller than Metric 0.4mod (0.4mod comes with the TRF on-road cars). They can be run together, but won't last to long when you do. The main reason for using SAE over Metric is the cost and availability of parts. Most hobby stores don't stock metric.
The main reason for using small teeth over large teeth is that this gives you more gearing options...

Did you test it to get to the 3.5 FDR? And you do get 64p 80T gears?! ...even where I live?!?! I was thinking of running about a 3.7 but if you say 3.5 I'm going to need another spur...

What motor are you using? I'm going to be running a Speed Passion 17.5 but will only be testing it next weekend...

I'm trying to get about 3.5 FDR so if I go to Gearchart.com this is 50 pinion and 80 spur, so is this measure on the site in metric. Also the car came with a 78T spur, how do i check what type of module this is.
A 78T spur is most likely gonna be 48 pitch on these cars. I would compare it's tooth size some spare gears to make sure...
I haven't put the motor in yet because of the following.

I'm going to start her of with a 80T 64 pitch Spur and a Tamiya 51T 0.4 module pinion (I know it'll wear, butwhat must I do?!) that'll give me a gear ratio of about 3.5 and then I'll move down on the pinions if necesary...
