Max, 190mm is width. There are Roar and Ifmar rules on how to measure roof and wing heights. And the methods to measure them can vary from race to race. If I remember correctly, last year's Reedy race followed Ifmar height rules. The body on the chassis, ready to race, must be a minimum of 115mm and the wing must be a maximum of 115mm. I don't know how they are going to do it this year...

I have the rules but can't figure what the height of the top of the body and the wing should be. I'd like to make a fixture to try and set the propere height but the height amount doesn't seem correct.
I say the height or dimension "C" is 190 mm. I dont think that right. Can somebody clear things up for me. Try to prepare for Reedy if I can get in!
190mm is the maximum height with 20mm blocks under the chassis. Presumably, this is to avoid ride height affecting overall height measurement. If you don't have 20 mm blocks.... get some?

415 is under weight when built, by it seems like about 40 grams with pretty light electronics. More if you use Ultra light stuff like the small servo, QC2, and a 2 channel reciever. Min weight is 1525 grams, with body. Try to weigh you car (corner wieght) wihtout shocks to get a static reading, then add weight where it makes sense.

Is Reedy using ROAR Rules?

Yea... looks like ROAR's rule book is attempting to use IFMAR rules for 1/10 TC, but the IFMAR rules read differently.

IFMAR, as Rod stated, is 115mm min, 175mm max height ready to race, and the wing can only be 115mm max. Minimum ride height is 5mm.

Weight is 1500 g for 4wd, not 1525 g. Gotta love rule books... Good news, 3 less squares of lead to stick on.

Keep in mind about the 5mm ride height.

"*Ground clearance -for use on carpet and other surfaces which could be damaged."

Good thing, because currently my car is at around 4mm hehe

For those that run foams...or...just have an answer.

Are you running longer/different ballend things on the end of the piston rod to get more extension?

It looks like running foams with the stock suspension should be no problem but with low cut foam tires it seem the shock does not extend out far enough.

**edit**

found some pro4 parts and this part(s) work real well. they fit nice and snug on the ballhead and give you a little more length.

on the right part #73510
#8 or #3 on that parts tree.

I also read before there was discussion on which foams fit the best on the 415 hexes.

Using Parma's they fit the hexes but seem to be wobbly until you tighten them down......Is anyone using TRC, TM, or another brand that might fit more snug?

Default Setup

I think someone asked for a possible set up on asphalt. the set up I am using is mostly box stock instead of yellow sways I chose red.

40wt oil 2 hole piston
Shock length 62mm
Droop front 1.5
Droop Back 2.0
Camber front 1 deg
Camber Back 2
0 Toe front
2.5 Back

Ride height front 5mm/Back 5.5mm

Mazda 6 body

Not to different but seems to work very well on meduim grip aspahlt. We use CS27 tires for the entire class which is 19t.

Hope this helps some of you

Default 415 warriors

I've have seen the light, all this talk about the 415 or 415ms on carpet Bah, Bah, Bah. Fernado is slicin' some serious carpet with pretty much stock 415"""""""""""MS"""""""""", so for those people second guessing their 415's. You can and you will beat the enemy, I demand it. I will try best to post the results and set-up 2day

It's awesome to see a 415 in the show at a foam race.

I mainly race carpet and after recieving my 415 I don't see any reason why the car wouldn't be great....it has a stiff chassis, nice drive train, and a lot of adjustability.

IMO...the only reason you haven't seen more Tamiya's at big carpet races is because most of the 'team/sponsored' guys run out West or in areas where asphault racing is king.

dawgmeat - are you racing the event also?

Was he bumped out because of the brushless motor?

That's too bad if so....if you get the setup that would be awesome as well.

Congrats to him for doing that well. If you can't get his setup maybe they will eventually post it on the TRF Racing page on tamiya's website.

* edit *

found out he got bumped because an error in the timing system counting Matt Francis' laps....either way...great job to see a Tamiya up front.

Fernando was not bumped down. He never had the position to begin with.

He was a rocket though...
