Default Question about 415

Hey guys considering getting a 415. Im undecided between 415 or jrxs type r? Is the parts support gonna be around for a while for the 415 now that the 416 is out or would I be better served to consider the 416. Whats the difference between the two cars 415 and 416. I know alot of questions but when I buy a tc i keep and drive it for a while and try to get familiar with it. I run lipos and brushless so that is something I have to keep in mind with these cars as my current jrxs is extremely unfriendly with the lipos unless you hack it. Any help would be appreciated.

The 415 isn't lipo friendly either. I had to mill mine just to get the Orion 3800's to fit. You can't even think of trying to get a 5000 to fit unless you get the bitty design tray. I plan on trying the tray out because I like the 415. This is also my first Tamiya so I don't have any 416 info to share with you. Many have said that the 416 is faster across the board but until someone here beats me with one I don't believe it

There are lipo tray's that push the battery out a bit so running bigger batteries should be fine. Dujuan bought the tray from Stomers and he seems to like the fit. Once I see how it looks in person I may go and get it. No mod for me. I'm sticking with 13.5 for now. That's what I'm running for the Reedy this time around.

Yep, the SMC 4000 28c is the perfect choice for the 415. Is what I used. Just get some good strapping tape to hold it in.

Glad it worked. It's one of the lowest profile batteries out. I think it will even fit in a Xray

After seeing the tray offered by Stormers I still think that the Bitty design tray is the best option. Even though it pushes the battery way out and side impacts will be a concern of mine it seems to be the only option that will allow you to run "ALL" lipo's currently available. The Stormers tray angles the battery which runs into problems depending on the size lipo used. You also have to shave the bulk head screw slightly for battery clearance. The Thunderpower 3200 fits but the Orion 3800 didn't. The humps from the Orion pack also seems to sit the pack higher than the flat packs.

Hey STL_Lick_Nuts, if the Thunderpower 3200 fits - so will the Thunderpower 4200 40C. They use the same case. You want to pack in the biggest battery you can fit.

linger_ing_smell-Dujuan runs the Thunder Power packs. I have to run the Orions If you went with the 5000 packs like most racers have the bitty design tray is the way to go. You hurt my feelings and if I don't win a club race it will be because of this very conversation

I think the tray I have will work with alittle dremeling. It wont take much to get a 4200 pack to fit or even a 5000 pack. The 3200 thunder power pack was pretty impressive to me! We will see how it runs out at Speedworld in two weeks!

Quick question perhaps I missed somewhere. What is the internal ratio for a 415 MSXX MRE 07?

I don't want to do any dremeling so I can't use that tray I'm going to get the bitty tray when I get some extra cash.

I just wanted to share what set up I have on my 415MSXX-MRE
I used the Josh Newman Reedy set up but with front yellow springs
and red rear springs, also .5 spacer under the rear suspendion mount spacer.
The set makes the car feel planted on unprepped sealed asphalt. So when I go to the races on the weekends the car has tons of traction with Soda/Water prepped on sealed asphalt. The reason I'm sharing this cause now my 415 and 416WE feels excactly the same!!! I'm just excited and wanted to share
