I'm still struggling to get my car to turn-in with a spool running mod (Mamba Max 5700). Running a Numan-based setup with 2 degree rear toe, MRE steering, short arms and it's still push city entering a corner... Good mid-corner and exit steering though. I might have to put the one-way back in...

Hi all:

Just get an MSXX from my wife (oh god, I'm so in love with her ) and it comes with a double one-way. The thing is that I never have a one way before and I usually run outdoor asphalt rubber mod (there is no really stock here in spain). The thing is that I'm thinking on getting rid of the dual one-way and get the MRE spool... or a front diff (I need brakes!!). And I would like to have them as complete parts (for easy changing)

which are the parts do I need from the MRE to do that? Can I put a rear diff on the front (I have a couple from my TA05 ready for action)...

I think that for this mod I need:

for the front:
3454401 direct holder
9804268 direct cup
9804267 direct coupling

for the center
3454395 Direct center shaft
51213 TA05 16T pulley (2 units)
3455643 spur gear stopper
5mm e-clip

is this correct? Is there any way to get these in complete packages (like Ikea )

thanks a lot!!!

I ran this setup with a 12T in and in 5-cell 3.5T b/L (using a XA block at the back to get 3deg toe in) and I equalled my track record on 6-cell mod on that track.

Then on sunday used it to take 3rd qualifying spot at TORC in 19T, bearing in mind I didn't have much HP compared to the 2 front runners.

It's basically a MSXX setup, with adequate springs and the short LW suspension, and the rear RC blocks raised 1mm to try and get a more even wear on the front and rear tyres, and get a few more good runs out of new tyres.

Worked well as I did my best run in qual 3, on 3rd run tyres and at the hottest part of the day. No drop off in the two finals either using the same tyres.

Hi yup thats correct... although you'll also need some 2x9.8mm pins to lock the drive cups to the spool centre. Part# TAM9805776. Of course you could just use some axle ones, and grind a little off the end to get them too fit.

I don't actually know of anywhere that has all the parts as a complete package though.

Also the short arms are far more stronger than the long arms, and don't snap as easily. Same period I would've been through at least 3 long arms.
thanks to burlap, eirik, tryhard and everyone else that responded.
it sounds like durability and precision are key factors. does the msxx include long or short arms?

and does anyone think the long arms are better??

What spool are you using? The Tamiya MRE spool?

That could be your problem, spools with delrin outdrives provide a much better turn in and mid corner steering than ones with steel/aluminium outdrives.
