I'm getting a MSX and will be running stock in it for the time being, but plan on getting the novak 3.5r system, just wondering what FDR do I want when running the 3.5? or betting yet, which spur and pinion?

Thanks.

With a 4.5 around 10.5. The 3.5 maybe 12.5?

I think the mre ones aare diffrent if thats what your talking about. Speedtech might have then. The new ones have a smaller diamiter to make room for that sleeve.

try www.nexusracing.net

that's where i picked mine up, but they are $6/piece, or $12 for a set. i finally broke down and bought a TA05 spool and put on the metal ones. and Vellrip off of ebay sells the metal spool outdrives by themselves

I gear my 4.5R at about 10...For the 3.5,I guess a good start point will be around 11.5 or so. Depending on big your track is...

By the way does any one know where I can find TRF 415 MSX MRE setup sheets. I am looking for rubber to carpet setup sheets. I am completely new to Tamiya, and have arace coming up next week. Any tips..

Thanks..

You can try Rick Howards' setup he used at the worlds. Its on the Tamiya USA website. Check it out.

try champ rc if you want the new mre outdrives and/or sleeves...actually the original spool for the msx has smaller delrin outdrives as I tried and the MRE alum sleeve just slips off

Is anyone selling the chassis and top deck yet for the MRE. My original 415 chassis is starting to lock a little tired.

well, given I now need a new one (see image) I emailed Champ this past week enquiring about an MRE chassis.... they are out of stock at Tamiya, and don't know when they'll be getting any in either. I saw Precision RC had it on their website, don't know if they have any in stock.

So plan B I go... for that personal touch

Not off cuts boss... custom built from the raw material

I've had a good look how the current plates are laid up... and it's pretty easy to see how you can make it stiffer. Also explains why the chassis is fairly "twistable". Unless anyone wants more details, I'll leave it at that.

Gonna play around with lay up's, make a few different plates... might make some avaliable if I like how they work (bear in mind thats a BIG if). Pretty sure I could make a foam chassis that would be thinner than 4mm... and a thinner and stiffer one for asphalt. Just need to do a bit of experimentation

Interesting Image from the IIC... not sure hows cars, but I'd guess Steen's (Look at the tranny)

http://www.rc50.com/modules/coppermi...6/PICT3069.JPG

Interesting to note... Foam car (left, the one with foams on..duh! ) looks like a an MRE, but with a 4mm chassis and original steering.
Rubber car... bit more interesing. STD MSX again (Not MRE steering). Also looks like he's got the short arms (X pattern in the rear arm, and 6mm hexes), and new top deck (Thicker, different cut, no front belt stabiliser) and camber mounts.
Front ones wrap round the bulkhead off the top deck. Rear mounts off where the alloy centre brace sits (wouldn't allow for the new layshaft bearing holders though). New upper bulkheads to accomodate too (check out the countersunk screws)

Wonder if they are Tamiya prototype, or Steen custom built....
