Tamiya 0.4 gears & 64pitch gears
Hi guys... I've got a load of Tam 0.4 pinion gears. But I want to run BL 17.5 and to get the right gearing I need to use a different spur and it doesn't look like tamiya makes a 80T or there about 0.4 spur gear.
Can I use tam 0.4 pinions on a 64 pitch spur gear? If yes, what will happend?? |

I have used them by accident in the past and it worked...but it isn't a good idea to. Though they look the same the pitch is different and you will not get good tooth engagement mixing them. Besides the possibility of increased noise you also increase the chances of stripping or damaging a gear.

I have done this with no problem. AreCee I was racing you with a 64 pinion and a 0.4 spur!

I may still have some of those real soft aluminum pinions Kyosho included with their kits. One of those pinions has teeth pointing backwards. Bottom line is that it can be used but your experience may differ from that of others. |

Nope. You might think that they are on the bench but when they are in the car your ears will let you know they are very different.

I think that all tamiya kits use metric pitch gears.
