Default WHO'S RUNNING A TUB CHASSIS FOR VTA?

I'm curious is to what kind of set-ups people are using for "tub cars" TC3,TC4,Cyclone S, or What I'm using; Losi XXXS G+. Any help would be great, as I know alot of VTA cars are recycled X-Rays, or Schu's.

Right now I have the car setup with a 74 tooth spur and a 44 tooth pinion gear. I am using a 3Racing motor mount. Check out the TB02 thread, the last pages have the info on gearing.

Dave - on your TA05R, are you running any spacers on the axels or just the 6mm wheel hex?? I've noticed my front wheels rub the knuckles with the thin wheel hexes

I probably should just post this in the setup thread, but saw this one first

I just bought a pack of the Traxxas thin hex spacers, fit perfect.

E4JS is a plastic tub car. 2 of those in the family and 3 TC3s. Both work well. E4s are belt driven, TC3s are shaft driven. The belts cars are smooth and quiet, but are very not snappy. The shaft cars have a lot of snap out of the corners.

I'm finishing up getting a tc4 ready to run in the VTA class so i will post back and let you know when I run it. Anyone with any advice on TC4 setup for VTA would be much appreciated, especially in the area of gearing. i will be running with a brushed setup to start, and have purchased a Reedy Stockstar. The stock spur is in the car, but I'm not sure what pinion to run.

I am using the IFS-R for 17.5. I have two cars setup(one belt and one shaft) for T/A racing. I am running a 74 tooth 64 pitch spur and a 44 tooth pinion gear and the motor mount is aftermarket(3Racing). Right now my final drive ratio is 4.37.

You can get what you need out of the TB02 if you convert to 64p using the adapter that comes with the kit and do a little math. I gave a bunch of examples in the TB02 thread, and they're still near the end.

EDIT: here's the post http://www.rctech.net/forum/5055153-post2079.html

I would like to Thank, reenmachine for the research on the TB02. I think this will be the car of choice at my local(medium to small tight track). I hope to run this weekend.

Plastic Tub!
The pleasure is all mine.

I have had a lot of fun with the TB02 and TA05. The limiting factors with the TB02 were the gearing and the lack of a readily-available spool, and now that both of those problems have been eliminated I'm really getting back into them. One is set up for VTA now and I have another pretty fresh one I haven't decided what to do with yet.
