Default Timing adjustment on HACKER 17.5

Im running a hacker 17.5 on a SPEED PASSION ver 1.0 brushless esc.

Can I adjust the timing from the esc the way I did with my speed passion motors or do i have to manually rotate the sensor and wire harness on the end of the motor the way I did with the NOVAK motors?

Ive heard the only way to run the higher turn brushless motors is with the timing are r'd out
