I still race with a mixture of nimh packs, EP4600 (used and unmatched, had a dead cell, replaced and cost me about 15 in all), IB4200 matched, at least 2 seasons old and some GP3700, about 3 seasons old.

No, the 3700s are not on the pace, but they give me a few runs of practice if I need them.

Once I get a few more dead cells, it will be time to switch over to lipo, but for now I need to go brushless...

At club level, you do not need matched Ni-mh to get into the A main, unless you have a lot of well known good guys to race against.

If you are good with a soldering iron and source loose, unmatched cells from Hong Kong, EP or IB4200/4600 they will be ok.

loose cells, battery bars, solder/iron, connectors and maybe some wire/heat shrink are all you need.

If you want hassle free racing, away from discharging and buying dischargers etc, go lipo

they cant be made equal every single time. so there will always be better cells and motors. and once the companies start making cells for the racers like ib did, they reliability will go down and we will be racing one pack for a year.

just my 2 cents.
Well charge and go is true. Not saying people won't figure out ways to get more out of a lipo. But no matter what anyone does, you CAN NOT just charge and go with NiMh can you? So it is more work for a new driver period and that was the point.
