Arrow Need advice please.

Hello all! Im new to the forum.

Here with in the next couple of weeks i will be getting a car. I need your opinion about what im getting.

I will be getting.

Hot Bodies Cyclone rtr

And the Novak Havoc 8.5 brushless motor system.

Will this be a good combo? Or will the brushless motor over power the car?

And I will be running on 6 cell nimh 4500mah batteries.

Thanks for your help!
Kevin

it'll be quick but not too crazy fast, a friend just put the havoc 8.5 in his xray and the car is a blast to drive. Might over power the stock tires tho, just make sure to gear it right.

It depends if you will be racing or just driving it at home?

Are you located in the US?

Most popular classes in the US for racing are 13.5 Rubber for carpet and asphalt and VTA which uses the 21.5. I would also recommend Lipo batteries if you can swing it.

I will have the stock gearing. I think it is 62 104. But will that be ok? And im not 100% on that brushless set up yet. Because I dont know if i wanna get a better radio first or go with a better motor system. And im happy with nimh for now.

If that is the stock gearing it will kill that motor in a heartbeat.

if im not mistaken the internal ratio of that car is around 2.4

so 104/62 x 2.4 = 4.02 FDR

to be safe i would start around a 6.5 FDR and work up or down from there depending on the temp of the motor.

so 104/38 x 2.4 = 6.56

so start with a 38 pinion and go from there

In order for me to give you the most accurate information that I can, I will need to know the application. Racing/Driving at home. Carpet/Asphalt.
