Default TRF 416- why so "cheap"

I noticed on RCMarket, that this kit is on special for $375.00. I thought this car was typically WAAAYYYY more expensive than this. Has Tamiya released (or are they about to release) a new car? Just curious.

The price for the 416 was always around this level from Japan (RC Champ)....

The Yen has actually strengthened against the US Dollar since the world recession, making Japanese exports more expensive. The Yen is pretty much the strongest currency of any developed nation now, part of the reason why Toyota will make their first ever loss this year.

You'll find that listed a few times on the regular 416 thread....

The worlds edition basically comes with all the stuff we'd been using on the regular 416 since nearly the beginning. Short "Evo" arms, different toe blocks, etc. Otherwise, it's got some new shock bodies, a revised motor mount, slightly different battery position on the chassis, a one-piece top deck, spool instead of a one-way, new wheels nuts, and new belts. None of those things really justify buying a new kit if you've got one already, but if you're buying new, the WE is a good choice.

I'll probably just retrofit my existing car with the new belts, and pick up the new top deck since it's inexpensive, and see how it feels. I hear it's more for low-traction asphalt, which I hope to never, ever encounter again. :-D

Lol!
$375 is now considered cheap for a rolling TC chassis?
The irony
