True dat John Lee. If it is driver introductions... then you get to pick by qualifying order. If it is go through tech, then right to the stand... then first person there has it.

Whoever has the most stickers on their car gets the spot.

And stickers that are stuck on your super sponsored T shirt count double!

I think in big race quals it should be who ever gets there first and then in the main by qual order. Club races should be game on.

mark off the stand by the # of heats you have. say 3 heats, divide it by 3. you must do 1 heat in each 3rd of the stand. much like slot car racing where you must race from each position (and in their case each lane). you could adopt that idea to make it good for all. even the race director could stipulate in the heat postings as to where you need to be for ur round.

just an idea

Fairtrace and see over or AROUND anyone, he should have to drive from the floor so his head is at the same level as everyone else's

I've always thought that higher qualifier should get preference, it's one thing to be over 2ft, but if you have to move to the complete other side, it's likely to throw off your timing.

I'll throw something out there...

I chose where I stand for a visual thing. I'm 80+% BLIND in my left eye, so in general I stand where I can best see the entire track with ONE eye and get the best overall feel. At some tracks due to the types of corners, and blind spots...it may be on the LEFT end, on others it is more toward the right. A large part of that is due to HOW CLOSE the stand is to the track. THE Closer it is, the further to the LEFT I have to stand...if it's back 15-20 ft. from the track, I can stand anywhere.

I know others who chose their spots for similar reasons...and if they get stuck in the wrong spot, they have been known to

A) Not race and go home
B) Say SCREW IT - and not worry about taking out 1/2 the field.

I'm glad I don't have that problem.

Club racing is first come first serve. At big races it's usually first come first serve as well unless you make the A and get introduced. When the reedy use to be at the Tamiya track you would see guys in line on the ramp 3 heats in advance just to get the spot they wanted on the stand. I've never seem someone fight over a spot before but I can see how it would happen. There have been times where a racer would be late to the stand and rather than take the open spot at the end of the stand they try to squeeze their late butts in an opening barely big enough for your radio......YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.......(BAY AREA RACER)

If it sounded like I said two guys were fighting over a spot on the stand, let me clear something up here... these guys weren't doing that, the discussion took place in the pits after all the racing was finished for the day, and they weren't in any of the same heats or mains all day, in fact one of them wasn't even racing that day, it was just a discussion about what should happen IF the situation should ever arise where two guys both want to stand in the same spot.

I have NEVER actually seen two people argue over a spot like that, and I hope i never DO see anything like that happen.

whoever gets there first, gets the spot. Though, if someone asked nicely to move over, you might get the spot you want. Usually drivers will stand in the same spots through out the heats and A-main.

It is always the responsability of the faster driver to get around the slower driver, even if the slower drivers beats him to a spot on the drivers stand!
First come, first serve!
