Default So, with 2008 now almost over, what would you like to see in r/c for 2009?

Call it a bit crazy, but I would like to see some shocks with gas in, not oil...

Fit and forget? No oil on the shaft to worry about contamination scratching up the piston, but would need a bit of cleaning.

The major problem with gas (or air) shocks is that with that small of a volume:
a) it is difficult to adjust pressures
b) there is no such thing as a small leak. It will either work, or be totally dead. And it will change state immediately from working to dead.
c) what would you use to fill/adjust them? Do they make micro air valves? It would have to be something similar to a Presta valve on a bicycle tire, or the valve will weigh more than the shock. But Presta valves leak...

True, it was more of a thinking out aloud thing more of actually seeing it happen, looking at my 1/1 car with gas shocks and then looking at my 415, lol.

less b*tching/arguing.

(i think the gas dampers have a higher likelihood of happening).

Oh, also forgot about "seal stiction", which is caused by the seals being so tight so as not to leak that they impede shock movement. This was a big issue when upside down front forks first started appearing on motocross bikes in the late 80's/early 90's. Maybe some kind of a gas charged bladder could be made to work (sort of like the Nike Air shoe bladder). Just swap out a pre-charged bladder... still oil involved, I'd guess, just like a real gas charged shock.

I just got back into racing this past year and have gotten alot of help along with some great equipment (both bought and acquired). I am running 4wd 17.5 and I love it. I tried 13.5 but I am just not at that skill level yet. The only time I do my b!tch!ng/complaining is away from the track and the other drivers. I don't b!tch/complain about other drivers either when I finally do vent... it is more about myself, my driving, and my expectations. Just ask my fiancee.... she is sick of hearing it all

Other than that, I can't say what I would like to see in R/C this upcoming year as I am not very well acquainted with all of the happenings and followings just yet.

For RCGT to keep its momentum in the Socal area... This has brought back a lot of old faces into racing. I don't even race this class but I know it's brought back a lot of interest back in sedan...

I'd like to see standardisation of Lipo pack dimensions, allowing manufacturers to build chassis's specifically designed for Lipo, combined with a review of the current minimum weight limits.

Default new racers

I'd like to see seasoned racers bring new faces into the hobby .
I'd like to see more support for the local hobby shops and tracks.
I'd like to see more spec class racing like USVTA and RCGT.
