So the ideal track condition for carpet racing of a completly additive soaked carpet causes your tires to have less grip? I think that I will stick to other tires that gain grip as the carpet becomes more soaked.

It's the year 2010. Shouldn't vacuum cleaners be quieter by now?

That is a good point, my sentence was not strictly correct so I have edited the original post now as ofcourse the Gecko grip also goes up with additive and will remain above or competitive with most other tyre brands whatever the additive levels, however, at the moment sheet foam tyres generally start out at a lower grip level and so have more to gain from the use of the additive. Gecko foam rubber gives high grip on carpet without the need for additive.

The point we are trying to get over is that Gecko tyres will have more grip than most other tyres on most surfaces to start with and therefore they do not need other materials so much as other RC car tyres to improve their grip with all the benefits that brings.

However, this high grip can lead to e.g. over steer problems where there is a build up of rubber on the asphalt tracks on top of other coatings so we are developing the Nitro tyre to improve lateral slide and wear resistance for the faster (Nitro) high grip/abrasive tracks. On the slower tracks the current tyres can give exceptional results.

No one has invented the perfect tyre yet but we feel we do have something new and significant to add to RC racing. Gecko foam rubber tyres are different to the rest and often better. You don't have to try them but you may be glad you did.

Nice try! but certainly not true. I can assure everybody that the 'RC4LESS' tyres from this link are NOT Gecko tyres. We mould the Gecko rubber ourselves, it is our formulations and the process is unique to us and it does not go to RC4LESS. However, if they are interested in stocking our rubber I assume they will get in touch

I see this thread hasn't seen action in awhile...are the Gecko tires still around? Are they still planning a 1/12th pan car tire? www.teammarketingamerica.com no longer lists Gecko tires on their site...so what's going on?

a main hobbies has 1/12 scale geckos, I just picked up some touring car foams to try out.

Sorry mate it was actually Microtech Racing in the UK who have stock of the 1/12 geckos, not a-main hobbies as I said earlier.

Interesting...last Gecko said anything it wasn't going to be until July when the 1/12th scale tires came out. Does the manufacturer have a web site? Didn't find anything that still worked on Google.

Ah I see they have unmounted donuts...nothing mounted for 1/12th though. And at $7 a pair that's too expensive when I find mounted Jacos for $9 to $10.

A Main Hobbies are the only importer of Gecko tyres into North America at the moment. They currently stock all 1/10th scale Electric & Nitro Gecko on road foam rubber tyres - see their web site amainhobbies.com for more information.

A range of 1/12th scale Gecko donuts are now available from the UK retailer Microtech racing Limited see their web site microtechracing.com for more information.

Further development of the 1/12th glued and trued tyre continues including a new rear compound that is producing some very exciting results. The new glued and trued Gecko tyres may still be available from as early as late July but are more likly to be available by late August.

These new glued and trued 1/12th Gecko tyres when launched will have a competitive price and A Main Hobbies are almost certain to be importing them. Please see the Adams Racing Limited web site (Manufacturer of Gecko Tyres) at adamsracing.co.uk for the latest information.

I hope they are planning to launch on a 38mm rim like the Jaco Prism and the CRC High Roller rims.

Hi,

we found the advertisement from Gecko on this forum, finally a r/c tire who doesn't need to be soaked with additives to perform well !

My oldest son (16 years) started 1/12th pancar last year, and because we do not always want to use what everyone else is using, are we going to trie out this new innovating foamtire.

Since the mounted/trued 1/12th tires are not available yet, we decided to buy some donuts.
I mounted them on cleaned (recycled) 38mm rims (with a bit of stretching and pushing it was possible) and glued them on both sides with cyano.
A lot of trueing was necessary (43mm front/ 46mm rear) and shaved the edges a bit.

My son is going to test the tires this winter at some indoor events, so we keep you informed about the performance.

We're going to try to use them without additive first, and see if we can keep up with the competition.

grtz,

Kurt from Belgium

Well it has been 8 months now...anything new on mounted 1/12th tires? I don't see any 1/12th Gecko tires listed at A Main Hobbies and nothing about mounted tires on the adamsracing web site.
