Default ESC - strange problem

Hi all,

I have a very strange problem on my car at the moment: I'm running a Serpent S411TE with a HobbyWing 120A esc (not the V3, but the previous version), with the 323stock soft and a GM 4.5 motor.

The problem I noticed is that after some laps (more or less two minutes running), the esc skip to sensorless mode, so I have no more power because "sensored items" are off due to the switching to sensorless mode.

BTW, I've done some tests with other electronics:

-changing ESC: I put a SP GT2 Pro an another HW 120, it's the same
-changing motor: tested with a PtiYo 5.5 and a HW one, it's the same
-other sensor cable, the same
-other RX and TX, nothing new
-other servo, it's the same
-tested with several LiPo batteries, nothing changed

The LiPo cut-off is disable, I try several times to recalibrate the ESC with the rx, but nothing works.

So, I'm a bit disapointed, I changed also the soft (put the 119stock one), but everything is the same, every time after 2 minutes, the power went off and the esc switched to sensorless mode.

I've never had this problem before, I was running with this ESC for month...

Does someone get an idea of what it is? I hope you can help me,
Best regards,
G-rem

As you are using a 4.5T turn motor you should not be using a stock program.
Also I believe 323 stock is Speed Passion not Hobbywing software.

119 stock is a Hobbywing program designed for stock motors i.e. 10.5, 13.5, 17.5, 21.5 NOT modified motors.

Load a mod program in and you might find it works

Thanks for your answer Barry, but as I said before, I ran with this esc and soft for months without any problem.
Moreover, the stock soft is "theoretically" a stock soft, but we use it with modified motors since its release...if you want to be front, you have no choice ;-) Compare the set-up sheet of top drivers, they all run with this soft and modified motor...and I think that if there were problem, it will be with the motor, not the ESC.

As you said, this is not the "original" soft of the Hobbywing, it's the SP one, but there is no problem with it, you can use SP esc with HW softs and HW esc with SP softs, we do it for years.

No, the problem is not that I think...AOI?

Try re-flashing the firmware. If that doesn't work, next thing I would try is turning off your temp protect. It was an issue for me running Mod on carpet, so I'd go there next. Try testing even with a "mod" software, just to see if the issue is stemmed from the hardware, or if its a SW issue.

Where did you get the software from?

There may be a slim chance it is corrupt.

No harm in getting the software from another source and trying it I guess?...

Not so much, about 85 degree celsius/185 Farhenheit (it was pretty hot these days in Belgium, about 32°C/90F)

Many thanks for your replies, we'll try this
