Default Rustler vxl gearing

On my rustler vxl, i'm running a 5400mah trakpwer 3s lipo, the problem is my gearing is 35/76, i'm only running on-road, but when i hit top speed the spur gear start to get teeth stripped off it, does anyone have a reason for this problem or anyway i can fix it?
