Motor heatsink and fan combo
I found one that looks awesome. Check it out.

The fan is tiny and still does 3+ cfm. It's made to wire into the BEC. Better than that taped down one I had.

Thanks for the source. I was trying to figure out how to mount one of those 25mm 5v fans on my XXX-S, and it looks like someone's beaten me to it.

that's pretty nice and not too expensive either.

That is actually pretty expensive. They are charging 12 bucks for a fan that you can get at radioshack for 3$.
how do you get power to the fan?
how do you get power to the fan?

The Radio Shack fans are 12vdc, these are 5vdc so a little less draw and more rpm.
You just splice a servo plug onto the fan wires and plug it into the BEC slot on your receiver.

You can actually get that identical fan, in 12 or 5v from all kinds of places, for a fraction of the price. What do you do if you run a transponder? do you have to splice the pos and neg wires onto the transponder wire? Does that affect the transponder? You may get a cooler motor, but there will be a tiny voltage drop, slightly reducing punch/acceleration.

A motor thats 20deg cooler will run faster than a motor with .06mA more power.

There is also the added weight of the sink, fan, and the 4 screws.
#10
how about the weight?

probably woundt take much to cool the fins of a heatsink.

Im working from what i know, your average computer cpu fan provides between 30 and 40cfm, ontop of a heatsink which is about 3-4 times the size of the pictured one im estimating. This keeps the cpu between 40 and 60C. Most electric motors come off hotter than that, and i doubt the fan will make any difference, the air rushing under the chassis will do a lot more than that i think.
