What is the proper part number for the software interface for this speed control? Part number? And where is it available?

Part# 61018 - ICS USB Adapter

Robert at KO Propo America told me that he is expecting to have them in sometime late this week or early next week.

Software and instructions can be found here:

1. The first batch of esc comes with the setting as "model 1" where all the freq is set to the max. (default setting of the world spec kit) Try the setting to "model 3" for a smoother throttle response.

2. When it cogs, the current limiter may be kicking in. try to retard the timing on the esc(or motor).

3. When the temp goes above 70C, the thermal control kicks in. Try "model 3". Use a higher turn motor, retard timing, or smaller pinion

4. Low volt cut off may cause this too. Depending on the receiver used, you may need to change the voltage used. You may need to set the Low volt cut off setting to "Lipo" to prevent this.

I guess it has so many parameters that you can easily go beyond the accepted values for a given combination of electronics. Which in a way, is a good thing if you are a tweaker.

Interesting. I'll try changing some of these. My Orion version cogs bad with a 10.5 Trinity, and a little with a 6.5 Novak. This is in 4wd off road. Changing the profile does not affect my cogging issue. Honestly I don't notice it wrt feel on the track, but it sounds horrible and it can't be good for the motor right???

BTW, I'm running lipo battery and haven't switched it to LiPo mode yet (was running default) as I just got the cable.

How much does drive frequency profile affect the feel of a brushless motor? Any recommendations for off road modified buggy? 2wd and 4wd?

I had this problem with a 17.5,13.5 and 10.5 Novak and Orion motors. After I talked to Robert(KO) I retarded the timing to the max setting and went up 5 teeth on the pinion the cogging went away. Its cause by the amount of timming that is installed in the Esc. The newer motor are also coming with a lot of timing built in so this is why we are having the cogging issue's with high turn motors.

Tonight I put it in my RB5(has a Novak 7.5 Light). Set it at profile 3 and it was awesome. It likes mods for sure. Very smooth and no cogging. I left it with the same gearing that I ran with my LRP TC.

Thanks. By "retarded to max setting" on timing, do you mean 0 or 2? I assumed 0, since stock was either 1 or 2.

On the Orion I went 4 marks to the right. What ever that makes it.

Rodney, that probably explains why I didn't have any cogging problems with my 10.5 at CRCRC when I tried it. I had the timing retarded to the second last line....

Are there any issues with 13.5 and 17.5s?

honestly I don't know how you guys are getting cogging with your speedos. I tried my Orion 5.5, novak 10.5 and novak 13.5 with no cogging with the stock profiles. It didn't cogg at all, but it wasn't as smooth as I wanted it to be. So I went over to my buddies to use his ics and put his 2profiles on it and it's great. I tried running all those motors in my buggy, not a tc.

I tried a power cap. Little more smooth low end power. Just a lrp cap soldered to the pos/neg posts. It had more low end torque it seemed like. It was always smooth as heck, but if you tried to drive over something or what ever it needed to have more trigger. Where with the cap it was like the lrp, and had more low end power (I'm talking like 10% throttle). So I took it off, but I'm going to try it at the track for the heck of it.

But over all I really like this speedo, just needs a little tuning. If anyone has some mod wheeler profiles they made, email them to me. I'd like to try them
