Stupid set up tool question
 

OK so I got my Integy Set up System and I went to order and Height/Droop gauge- Thie one http://www.integy.com/cgi-bin/webc.c...=3556&p_catid=

How does the droop part work without matching blocks?

All the other more expensive droop gauge have blocks with I assume puts the chassis at the right hieght to work with the gauge.

To measure droop with that gauge you simply hold the chassis in hand. Then place the flat portion of the guage that also has steps, flat against the bottom of the chassis pan. Then with the stepped portion of the gauge, you measure the number of mm up to the bottom of the outer hinge pin on any given corner of the suspension.

This gives you the distance from the bottom of the pan up to whatever you measure to (bottom of hinge pin is common)...

The funny thing is that this exact same measurement would be taken with any standard ride height gauge by laying the chassis flat on a setup board... ;)

BTW: Keep in mind that these numbers are hard to compare with other peoples. The measurment varys depending on the type of car, as well as anti-dive/anti-squat geometry...

The guages that require blocks only come in handy if you need to measure below 0mm. That is your hinge pin hangs down below the bottom of the chassis...

its easy, I use the same gauge you do. Now slide the gauage under the chassis and measure from the outer hinge pin (the pin that carriers the rear hub carrier or front hub carrier).

Make sure you take the shocks, wheels and swaybars off when you measure. The arm needs to be completey free. Also make sure you don't have any bent or broken parts!

The other part of the chassis can be held up with a 9mm aluminum block, an MIP tweak station part, or another suitable part equal width of the Integy droop gauge.
