I have a Futaba 2 PL...actuallly just got it for my first car...I am not pleasd, mainly wih the interfeence/reception distance so I want to move to a 2.4.

I just do my own parking lot bashing so i dont need so many bells/whistles.

looks like Futaba, Airtronics ans Spektrum are the big 3

Any reason to go with one over the other??

Futaba has actually been using 2.4GhZ in their industrial radio control applications for 15 yrs. The second paragraph mentions this.

I used to run the Spektrum system in my 3PK and recently switched to the Futaba FASST 2.4 system and have never been happier.

I agree 100% - Futaba 3PM is a good quality low cost 2.4 GHz system.

Futaba's only drawback at this point is that they do not offer and mini or micro receivers, all standard size.

Stay away from Spektrum unless you intend to purchase the DSM2 or Pro stuff, I do not feel they are very linear, and are a little quirky from time to time.

The DX3R is the first 2.4ghz system I felt was worth switching for. I bought one, and it was worth switching for.

It depends. If you are on a budget, i would get the Futaba 3PM over the Spectrum DSM2 because Futaba offers a few more adjustments than Spectrum. If you are not on a budget, I would get either the Futaba 4PK or the Airtronics M11. Both of them are great, top end radios.

todd, that's good news, but I don't think the receivers are the new generation, so that's why it's cheaper.

the dx3r is dsm while the dx3r is dsm2 thus the price diff
anybody can correct me if im wrong
anyway is it a better choice to get a m11 with a spektrum module
compared to getting a dx3r?

If all you're doing is bashing there is no need for anything more than a DX2.0.

I have 2 of them for my son and my Slash's and there's nothing wrong with them.
