You got it spot on danny!!!Maybe a independent 3rd party should actually perform the testing so there is no impact on the data.It would also negate any resposibility for the magazines that print the findings.BUT I think ALL li-pos should be tested.NOT just the roar approved ones. There are alot of people out there that run soft case li-pos in 1/8 conversions, and also just to bash.It would be nice to see who is really offering the most bang for the buck!!

I suppose a ROAR group and the rest group would be fine...

Wow im surprised of the lack of response...

Maybe i need to flame a brand to get some response..OK ORION, TRINITY and CHECKPOINT suck and print bogus claims for there packs! (jokes)

Though this electric forum with mostly racing crowd could get behind such an idea..

I'm an engineer and have no affiliations or loyalties to any one particular battery manufacturer. Someone send me the equipment and a heap of batteries and I'll perform the test and publish the results!

Ya ok, and while they are sending you that stuff, send me all the new chassis and tires to test, and ill publish that.

Or RC mags are the only publications that have a chance of doing this type of test/review. Im very shocked by the lack of interest.....

Often magazine write reviews, but they never publish the bad ones.

So this same theory can be applied to Lipo pacs. They can test them, print the results on the ones that are "good buys".

If you don't see the pack you want to purchase in the review, then it was either not tested or bad. But the review would list packs that are worth purchasing..

Thus making the manufactures want to keep there specs correct.

What you guys should do before purchasing a pack is to email/contact the company importing/selling the pack that your interested in purchasing and ask them how they test for C rate and capacity. If they can't tell you that then I would be careful.
Gee I remember a certain SMC thread where those questions and questions of safety were asked of SMC and the people asking the questions got blasted by SMC. Glad to see SMC has turned the corner now and is being more proactive on the lipo scene. Good looking out.

We have always posted the C rates of our pack and claimed they were safe. I have posted the graphs that show our packs up to 30C so I'm not sure what your talking about SMC blasting people ?

You know very well. The thread that was deleted called "" SMC 28C 4000/5000 Hardcase Lipo" and replaced with "" SMC 28C 4000/5000 Hardcase Lipo Part 2"

But in all seriousness I do respect SMC for turning a new leaf on the subject and being proactive.

This threads intent is not to bash on any brands. We will save that thread for after Xtreme prints the results SMC is the only one that is printing actual data on every pack they sell.... Using industry standard Turbo chargers... maybe the rest will follow suit

I really hate to pitch this idea to RCCA

So, as they say, vote with your wallet.

If we buy nothing but SMC packs and make it clear that it's because they are candid and forthright with their data, others will follow suit.

While i agree with that advise, i still want a cool lipo shoot out...

I find it funny how quick everyone is to give the magazines a pass on this. To me this is a very interesting and timely topic.

Instead of reasons why it can't be done i would think more responses would be reasons why they should do a shoot out.

With all the brand bashing on this forum you would think all the fan boys would be spouting off about how there XYZ is better then ABC packs and with a shootout we could be updated bi-annually what packs truly are the best.
