tell everyone the truth Mr Bert
you have never rebuilt those A700 shock before and knowing what shock oil they really used..
please don't going around telling people your a little bs trick fit
Plus you have no ideal what and how to rebuilt A700 shock in proper done
I've done it years ago
and it is cheaper and easier just to take Mr Hanulec advise

Of course Bert hadn't read this portion:
Which 30K oil or green slime will NOT repair so even if his little hack would work (even back on that page I don't think it was verified to have actually worked, just a hack for the day kind of thing) it wouldn't work for long as the seals going hard would not get magically fixed with some 30K oil or slime.
But that's Bert for ya.
It looks like the shaft seals have gone hard with age.

So get new seal from McmasterCarr or something...They should be cheap vs ordering new shocks...Throwing parts away and buying anew every year is the best way to get priced out of the hobby...Good luck....
