do you mean what is pictured ( see attached ) ?

or do you mean short on front suspension and long on rear suspension ?

Typically unequal length upper arms ( as shown in the attached picture ) is NOT used in favor of using shims under equal length upper arms ( see picture: 0mm and 2mm shims ). Both are ways to manipulate re-active caster but shimming is the preferred method.

I meant different lengths at either end of the car. The idea of short in the front and long in the rear. Steering through the shorter front but having the stability of the longer links in the rear?

Awesomatix had a great weekend at the Halloween Classic to say the least. TQ + 2nd in VTA, TQ + 1-2-3 in 17.5 TC, 3rd in 13.5 TC and 4th in Mod TC, along with having 5 cars in the show in 17.5 TC. The team was outstanding, im glad to be a part of it.

How many shims (if any) and on what side are you guys recommending for the metal gear set?

So are you saying the two larger gears are metal and then run two plastic and two metal on the cross bridge. Are you running any shims?

With all metal gears i'm running 2 x 0.1 shims on each side under the bearing.

when running metal gears -- I don't bother to shim. the metal gears work good enough w/o shimming and don't require the exact shimming that the plastic gears need in order to survive.

i've never tried mixing metal/plastic. i mostly run stock -- and i like the confidence the metal gears give me. just one less thing to focus on.

running just two of four gears helps yield a smoother feel with the metal gears. over course you must put thicker fluid in. to me -- 2 gears w/ 5K feels heavier than 4 gears w/ 2K, but lighter than 4 gears w/ 3K
