WOW! That is really interesting! It functions sort of like a leaf-spring as a dampening effect. I know I am using leaf-spring wrong here, but I forgot what similarly used dampening system works like leaf-springs on current trucks.
This car is definitely looking pretty interesting. As far as the shaft drive solution, I was thinking more on the lines of some sort of slipper effect. But this is really damn interesting. Now I can't wait to see this car in action.

I guess you change the springing rate by shortening/lenghting the arm... how do you adjust the damping...

I would think it would be easier to just buy additional units with different damping characteristics though.

Very interesting design...appears that you can change spring rate without actually changing the spring. Wonder how easy it is to change dampening.

im impressed by the level of craftmanship and concepts, but strength doesnt seem to be promising. then again i could be completely wrong. gimme 5min with itand ill tell you whether itll hold up, lol.

Good racers rarely crash, the design would not put me off getting one if I ever needed another car.
The car has a very low C of G, making it particually good for stock class racing imho, as this should help grip mid corner, more grip = more responsive.
When you have a limited amount of power, and your other competitors have a similar amount of power) but you good grip, you can take a very aggressive approach to any corner, then others will find it hard to pass you.
Just my theory of course....

the bit that intrigues me, is the use of bevel gears to rotate the motor 90' to remove torque steer evidence. Neat, although with LiPo, your gonna have to do some serious chassis balancing.
As for the suspension, spring rate is altered by either lengthening or shortening the distance of pickup points, or thinner/different material.

Maybe the car has been optimised for use with nimh cells as these have more of a presence in r/c racing in Russia and surrounding areas, and the car is therefore then aimed at the Russian market.
I highly doubt the car was made in the view of the economy, but maybe this car will also appeal more to the racers who do not want to change to lipo and are happy with nimh.
If the car is to do well in the stock class, I would think nimh would be the best cell for the car in competition use.
Also, I have no knowledge also if the Russian national race allows the use of lipo's.
From my understanding, the car has already been sighted at this race, although I have no information if the car was raced there and if it did, what position it finished.
Maybe further development will make lipo an easier option for the car, or there are some plans already been made for its use and it is not known here?
