Default wd 40 on tires

hey
does any one know why WD 40 works so well then u put it on your rubber tires then rub it off
i do it every week at racing and i get so much grip it isnt funny
with the WD 40 there is no use for tire warmers cos u get traction from go anyway

Boil your tires. Then when they are warm and dry, apply some wd40. Then stick em in ziplock bags. Take them out about a week later and rup them down with simple green. Better than a tire sauce...

i think wd40 works because the petroleum elements (.. i think there is some??) soak into the tyre and soften it... i think?? or.. thats my theory

both wd-40 and simple green works. however, i wouldn't use 'em together. basically, both substances just soften up the rubber. if your track allows it, experiment with 'em. i usually pack wd-40, simple green, and paragon. i'll use paragon most of the time, but have gone to wd-40 if the paragon isn't working. simple green i think works best in cleaning your tires between heats.

Guys;

WD40 works so well when allowed to Soak in a Bag, because it is a Pertrolium product, which softens the Rubber. As a cleaner, it will remove caked on Asphalt sealer better than anything else I've tried.

DO NOT boil your Tires unless you WANT the CA to come off. The WD40 alone is good enough.

Cole Trickle;

Try soaking your Tires in a Baggie with some WD40 sprayed on them a few day before your race. Wipe it off and go. Should improve traction noticeably.

I'm sure it will - but it will also be cheating.

All fast guys at TFB Raceway (www.tfbraceway.com) always use WD40 on Controlled tires (CS-27). It works great. I also use it for foam tires as well.
Great stuff!!!!!!

can I soak the tire AND wheel in wd-40? I use 40 on my tires during the race, but if I soak the whole thing during the week inbetween races, does the 40 have any adverse affects on the wheel/hub?

not a really good idea sign WD40 melts plastic very easily! just coat your tire with wd40
