Charging of the packs....
So on the TQ website they say charge at 2C (8Ah), is this really OK with these packs?
1C (4Ah) takes for ever and actually caused me to not get a full charge on a pack for an entire day of racing since the heats were so close together. Just curious.

Anyone know where we can source 3.7v 1s Lipo Cut Offs for the cars ?

Novaks new booster has a cutoff included, although the Novak unit is big and clunky looking. The latest software for the Tekin RS esc includes a cutoff also I beleive

I need to know how you guys are running the single cell lipo. I have been reading and see where you are leaving the switch off to do so but how are you powering the speed control? I must have missed the proper way to wire it. Could someone please explain how this is done.

Some guys are plugging the LiPo Receiver battery directly into the Receiver, but a fully charged LiPo is 8.4v which could be too high for some brands of equipment. Futaba Receivers for example, cannot take more than 6v safely, and some servo's also cannot take more than 6v. In this case, I recommend you use a LiPo Voltage Regulator. Muchmore, Losi, Novak, and others make them.
When using LiPo Regulator, you will plug the Regulator into the Receiver, and the LiPo Battery into the Regulator. As for the 1s LiPo, you will not change the manner that this is wired, still plus into the Positive and Negative on the speedo to power the motor.

Tested some with 1S Lipo on friday.
Ran the following:
SMC 1S Lipo 4000maH
LRP X12 4,5 Turns
LRP SXX speedo
VXR RX Lipo, 120maH,7,4 Volt, reduced to 6V
First time out it sucked big time....I charged the pack they day before and it had no power at all. I recharged than and it was much better!
Had more than a minute left after 8 min, so I geared up 4 teeth.
Actually it was ok than....better than I expected.
It is not "ballistic" fast and sure slower than NmiH! It feels like running 10,5 with NimH.
Compared to NimH my lap times were like 4-5 tenth slower on a 15sec. track.
As I still had like 40sec left, I will try to run a 3,5 or 4,0 Turns.
Biggest threat in future is heat...with less voltage you will gear up, run a hotter motor and increase timing.
I am pretty sure in the future fast rising capacitys will be hard for speedos. Temperatures will be the main issue.
For now it will be ok....but we are at the start of Lipo.....

Yep - leave the speedo powered off, and use a small LiPo receiver pack, 100-300mah will do, using approx 60-90mah per 8-min race. The other option is to use a Booster which will take the 3.7v from the 1s LiPo and boost it to a flat and consistent 6v.

Robert at Ko is telling me to remove the positive on the speedo to the rx and running the speedo off the 3.7 lipo pack.

One thing with the RX lipo pack....solder a resistor between the power wires...to reduce it to 6V.
Did that with mine, weight is 10 grams with small switch and its supersmall!!
Simply leave speedo (LRP) off and only switch on or plug in the RX pack.
Hmmmm strange....I only used like 40-50 maH in 8 minutes....with a Graupner DS3781 servo..pretty similar to JR 3650 I guess.
